I guess you'd call me a typical "armchair-activist"...
but my daughter has kinda been listening to me rant...and now she's an activiist at 15
so we went to the Dem forum tonite and she took pages of notes... and at the end we had both chosen the MOST progressive one to carry our voice home...yet she personally spoke with each one regardless of what they said in debate...and made a choice one connection and policy.
it was amazingly a standing room only event in our little town, and even bad weather didn't keep folks from SHOWING UP!
My girl actually is signing up to canvas and get her peers registered...and she's 15!
now I look at my "activism" in the 80's...and am grateful that there's still SOMEONE to hold the torch ...even better than me.
I pray our world can get better...

(15,800 posts)met almost every night for canvassing and phone banking. Our oldest caller worked her first campaign going door to door for FDR. Our youngest had just turned 12; she's just started college, and is very active with the college Democrats as well as remaining one of our most effective volunteers. Some of our young people make me optimistic for the future they're helping to build.

(3,479 posts)I got to see my middle daughter give a presentation to the local dems, including a Congressman on a horrible anti gay refenendem that was before our state. I felt I had done my part for the next generation of dems. By the way, My other two daughters are liberal to.

(4,492 posts)I want your daughter! She'd be a great intern and I would love to show her the ropes of working on a campaign. Depending on the campaign and laws, I'd pay her as a canvasser too.
