CNN anchor Chris Cuomo lectured LaVar Ball about gratitude last night

Deadspin article--from comments section:

“What caused the collapse of American hegemony? Was it a complicated mix of factors, such as an aging population, rising economic inequality, and the rise of other global competitors?”

“Nah, they were just really fucking stupid.”

They stole. Irrespective of the abysmal behavior of Trump, I agree that they should have been treated like any other U.S. citizens who stole in China.

Spoiled privileged brats.

And Ball thinks stealing is “no big deal.” Great example for his children.

fuck cuomo and yes they stole but I see them as goofing off and got caught up in it. At least they got back to hopefully have learned a lesson. All the rest of this story does not matter to me....it's good to see some AA "spoiled privileged brats" for once, it's so rare.

my position is clear and I will stand on that ground. Young people goofing off and it went too far. See in in our local college town newspaper every week. At least they didn't kill someone or make someone violently sick in some over the top hazing incident and at least they weren't shot down as unarmed citizens as is the usual M.O. by the ameriKKKan authorities operating for the state under authority of badge and gun.

Everyone makes mistakes and the best one can hope is that positive lessons were learned. So moving on, you have a good one.

have been the end. But Trump wanted more. The father is ignorant in my opinion. As a black woman, I would think that the father would have wanted this behind his family as quickly as possible. Regardless of my feelings about Trump, and believe me, there is no love lost there, bigly. But it there was the slight possibility that he played any role in getting my child out of a communist country where they was accused of committing a crime where he could have done jail time, I would have said what I needed to say to put this behind my son and our family. LaVar Ball is an asshole and all he did was bring more problems for these young black men, as I'm sure they wanted to put this episode behind them as soon as possible. We've seen what problems Trump, the racist, has bought to the NFL as a result of players taking the knee. He'll do the same thing to UCLA and make sure that the players never play there again because he can never let anything go. But then the same can be said for the father who also has a big mouth. Hopefully someone will let him know. His ignorance reflects not just on him, but on the black community, as well. Because when one of us does something stupid, our whole race pays the price.

Dear Mr. Ball,
Your son and his associates embarrassed their school and this country on the world stage. They were contrite. They didn't make excuses. They apologized, and were willing to accept the consequences for their actions. They thanked the Chinese government and their police for the kind treatment they received during their detention. You, Mr. Ball, on the other hand are an embarassment as well, and are not doing your child any favors. So shut the fuck up. Learn to show a bit of humility sometime. It's not always about YOU. This episode could have had a much different outcome. You have managed to make Trump look sympathetic by being a bigger asshole than even he has been capable of being, so far, in this instance. Try not talking sometime. Everything someone says to YOU, or about YOU, doesn't require a response by YOU. Your silence can sometimes be a virtue. Practice it. I'm sure your sons would appreciate it.

He asked him why repeatedly, but Ball just kept circling around - replying with questions, essentially acting like a complete jerk.

this dotus should not even be tweeting or talking about this or responding to Mr. Ball's previous interview where he said 'who helped them' (Paraphrasing).

I guess Cuomo was playing the role of devils advocate or whatever ...but I didn't like it.

As terrible as Ball was...I'm sorry but Cuomo was even worse. First time I'm saying this about him...but he seemed to believe that Mr. Ball was OBLIGATED to thank the dotard and that he should have, instead of focusing that this whiny dotard is the prezident and shouldn't even be getting involved in this back and forth BULLSHIT. That was the one time that Ball was making sense.
