Pelosi is a great leader. Misogyny by both men and women is why she is hated

"It wasn't Nancy, it was Chuck"

“This isn’t about friendship,” she told me in another conversation this fall, sitting at the conference table in her office in the Capitol. If the president comes to her with what she thinks is good policy on the debt ceiling or anything else, she’ll sign on. “He came our way,” she says. “And that was important. It wasn’t a compromise. It was, he came our way.”

As it also tends to go with Pelosi, the people who can’t stand her refused to give her credit. Right after news broke that Trump had taken the debt ceiling deal, one of the most reliable Pelosi haters in the conference sidled up to me to undercut her. It “wasn’t Nancy. It was all Chuck,” the member said.

I relayed that comment to Pelosi as she was driving to Dulles, pleased that she had delivered every Democratic vote for the bill, as promised.

“So sad,” she said. “But whoever said that voted right today, and that’s the only thing that matters.”

Some men are not criticized on the basis of age. Biden and a couple of others are not too old.

meaning we would have had ZERO chance for a healthcare bill. As it was, we barely squeaked out the ACA, without a vote to spare, because of Ted Kennedy's death.

If work on the bill had started only a few months later, we wouldn't have had the Senate bill approved WITH Kennedy's vote, and there would have been no ACA.

Why take it off the table? Why not have the continuous threat? Instead she gave those murderers a free pass.

If the thugs could get as many political points off of Benghazi as they did, we could have gotten a lot more for continuous investigations of actual war crimes and lies that got us into a Middle East debacle costing trillions of dollars and thousands of lives.

There is no doubt we could have run a multitude of investigations against them - why do the thugs get to have continuous ongoing investigations re a nothing burger like Benghazi and we cannot have the same for lies used to start a hideous war.

I guess I am naive - only republicans get to have loud public hearings.

You don't even need to mention the word impeachment - just investigate...public hearings about the evidence for war that was fabricated. Get it all out there. Pound the table - I will never understand how the thugs can make massive political points off of Benghazi and we make zero out of Iraq.

There simply are not enough votes in the House to bring a bill of impeachment, or 2/3s of the Senate to convict. Pelosi is a realist, who knows where our energy would be better spent for now, and that is electing Dems to state legislatures to prevent more gerrymandering after the 2020 census, and winning Dems in Congress, so that we can repeal the Trump and GOP agenda, and who knows? Maybe even impeach the traitors in 2018?

Re 45:

I would love to impeach now, but we cannot actually take the action today. We do need to discuss it a lot and make it a normal part of the conversation. Then, when all the evidence is in place....and hopefully the votes, then we can go after the orange menace. Investigations and continuous threats to his presidency must continue though.

and she has had tp put up with so much bashing due to misogyny...I even see it here on DU sometimes.

During Thanksgiving I told my very Dem family and guests that Ryan and McConnell, along with Pence, have dirty Russian money in their bank accounts and that I hope Mueller nails them all. My sister happily asked, "Does that mean President Pelosi?". That would be just desserts for the GOPigs.

'impeachment off the table', she was right. Unless you have the votes to convict in the Senate, it is a waste of time and money...and any party doing it will be punished by the voters...consider she got the House and Senate back in 2006.

They will use any opportunity to deprecate Pelosi. Even to the point of fabricating
any issue that serves to demean her. She has done a lot of good for this country
and for her party and this is what they can't stand. I admire her greatly.
