I've met a lot of Republicans lately that are ashamed of their party and the president. And, they are not afraid to say so.
We discuss it and agree that the Republican party is failing and becoming an extreme party that is beyond left and right. It's an immoral and ethically deprived party.
When I suggest that the true Republican party either has to rid themselves of the Trump/Bannon sect or the moral and ethical conservatives need to form a new party, they agree.
Now is the time to sow division.
The Republican party could implode and I'm more than happy to help.

(23,314 posts)And I question whether we can unite enough as a party to accomplish that. It is frustrating to see multiple threads a day here on DU rehashing our own primary from a year and a half ago. Seems we are more than willing to blow up our own party. The best way to sow division among the R's would be to show them what is possible by modeling a viable alternative.

(11,746 posts)It needs the death penalty. And yes, any moral and rational Repubublicans need to form their own party and compete against Democrats for the 70% of us who are not stupid and crazy. The problem is that this would be a bold move nd would require courage.
Cowardice is also part of their disease.

(9,090 posts)they are most responsible for all this but get no blame at all, and that's the way its been for 30 years.
most of the russian trolling piggybacked their work. trump actually studied talk radio in 2014 according to his guy sam nunberg.
without talk radio they have nothing, even on the local level.
for instance, i see a New Mexico flag id for you.......
friday morning i heard eric strauss (a total fucking idiot trump guy usually on weekend mornings) filling in for local morning bob clark on the albuquerque KKKOB limbaugh station drumming up support to get lapel cams off police in NM in support of the county sheriff who won't use them. basically suggesting its putting their lives in danger because they're hesitating to shoot...... kkob local radio shitheads also pushed lowering police recruit education standards - as one caller explained, who needs a college degree to know to shoot someone pointing a gun at you.....
kkob is a huge part of republican operations in NM yet NM dems let UNM keep broadcasting sports on that station! without complaint. the university was even broadcasting a recruiting advert touting their diversity on KKOB recently and i heard it on during the limbaugh show several times. i called and complained a few times at UNM with no luck. i've also previously pointed this idiocy out at the ben raY lujan office with no luck. idiots.
it's stupid for dems not to make this an issue in NM. blaming KKOB/limbaugh in NM and getting UNM to look for apolitical alternatives for sports would destroy GOP media operations in NM. they should not be allowed to use the lobos to sell their trump crap.
i even heard kkob producer pat frisch in attacking the sanctuary city concept in santa fe suggest that the killer vigilante 'purge' movies might not be such a bad idea.... and they get to keep using the lobos for community cred, to sell advertising, and even get paid by UNM through their own advertising budget! there's no reason for UNM not to reread their mission statement and look for alternatives.
NM dems need to blame KKOB for trump/GOP shit in NM, get UNM off KKOB, and NM will go all blue quick.

All normalized this one party rules Fascist conception of thought. No compromise, no working across the aisle, no give and take, no consensus. They consciously made American politics uglier and uglier in a multitude of shapes and forms in the hopes to block out the other and gain more power for themselves.
Now they have connived and cheated their way to gain all the power and they can not get anything done because the Republican party is a band of dysfunctional extremist and bandits who only serve the interests of the mega rich.
Hopefully the findings of the investigatory team of Mueller will drive the final nail into the coffin of the current Republican Party as we know it today and cause the centrists and moderates to spin off into a new and more healthy political direction where we can all work together and get stuff done.
Democracy can not survive unless it is a conscious co-operative effort, only then will the system work.

(14,490 posts)...are already sowing division in both parties every day. We now know that Russia and possibly other state and non-state actors are creating havoc on-line using hacking and false ads on social media. This did not stop with the election and affects all political parties, individuals and corporations. This flood of misleading and confusing information then bleeds over into our public media such as TV and web news sources. Thanks goodness that the more reputable news organizations carefully fact-check their sources, but bad stuff still occasionally slips through.
That's why we must fight just as hard for unity within the Democratic Party and be watchful for false, divisive actors, ads and posts.
I feel one of the best ways to put dents in the opposition is to call out every one of tRump's and the Republican Party's lies, while keeping those attacks simple, loud and factual.

(11,841 posts)...still says he would vote for him again if he were still opposed by Hillary. He actually said that if HRC ran again in 20 he'd vote the same way. But if a "better" democrat ran he may not. I was surprised on a few levels. But seeing as I have authority over him I didn't press the issue. Only asked him "who would you consider a "better" democrat? he said Webb. At least he's someone who actually KNOWS people in politics. Most don't even know their own Senator.

(14,149 posts)For three decades spewed hate, outrageous conspiracy theories, and lies about Hillary knowing she was destined to become a major political force.
The Right Wing hate media machine stomped and stomped her down to do damage and demonize her so when her day came to rise to the pinnacle of political power she was very damaged goods to those that blindly bought the propaganda hook, line, and sinker.
The Right Wing Fascist hate propaganda machine must be recognized for the insidious and relentless damage it causes to political liberalism and progressive thought and dealt with accordingly.

(11,841 posts)If I go into that list here I may get a hide for "spreading RW talking points"!!
One not-too-controversial one is "sense of entitlement"; it was "hers"; no "Clinton Dynasty" (which, to be fair, he also didn't like having a "Bush Dynasty" either).
Others, but I'm sure you've heard them before.

(611 posts).....if we have a prime time parade of trannies at the 2020 convention, there goes another 4 years. I live in Redneckistan and you cant believe how trannies, and football players kneeling, are the two biggest issues for the empty heads I deal with on a daily basis. If we even did a reasonable impersonation of a centrist party it would be a bloodbath for the Rs.
I almost want the Repukes to keep congress for the foreseeable future, so they can really destroy everything unimpeded and get thrown out en masse down to the state level later. The electoral college bothers me more. We shouldnt really have one. We need to control more state legislatures to unGerrymander things after the 2020 Census.

(11,841 posts)guess I'm wrong though, since its till up. This can be a very "touchy" place. Ive had hides for much less!!
I think we all should be able to tell it as we see it, but a lot of folks here are offended by the smallest things.
I agree with your view for '20, by the way. Like it or not, the country is a moderate majority; either party goes too far one way and the other party gives an attractive alternative and people will vote for them.
Oh, never explained the "hide". if someone "alerts" on a post that they think violates the rules, a jury of randomly selected members vote on whether or not to remove your comment. Get enough of them in a short enough time and you're suspended.

(611 posts)....with the juiciest part in the middle. Thats where enough votes are to win. Living in coal country, with coal mining being a fading memory, I watched with disgust as that damnable ferret headed fool blathered on about coal coming back, and won big here. Those promises were not talked about again after Election Day. I believe that everyone, regardless of orientation, deserves the protection of law, but I am not willing to live under fascism to prove a point. Lets get control, unGerrymander things as best we can, and then worry about a progressive agenda.

(2,034 posts)Show them how theyve been lied to, and you could split the party wide enough to drive a Mack truck through.
Decades of RW radio and Fox News have divided the country and the GOP. The internet has only accelerated that process. I see things less in terms of sowing discord and more as assisting decent republicans in learning some critical thinking skills and returning to a fact-based reality.
