i just got a letter from our wonderful health insurance company

they told me *oops*! your son mini-unblock has been getting 90-day refills when your plan only provides for 30-day refills, but don't worry, it's our fault and we'll get right on fixing that!

bizarre as that is already, it's even more bizarre because the medication it's all about is for a pill that mini-unblock has never taken, for a condition that he has never had, and which is contraindicated for children!

gotta love it when they apologize for a mistake and the entire apology is itself a mistake!

great way to instill confidence in a health insurance company!

Because I feel like just another number to my healthcare provider. Easy to make a mistake when you never know if 6 will turn out to be 9.

before it's too late.

You've reminded me of something similar that happened to me a couple months ago. My prescription bottles had a note at the bottom about needing to have lab tests done before I could receive another refill. I emailed my doctor about it, asking if the labs had been scheduled in advance and I could just show up. She wrote back with an apology. That was a mistake, and I didn't actually need any lab tests. It left me with a little less faith in my HMO.

but it is not impossible that someone got hold of your insurance ID and is using it without your knowledge.

if an insurance card thief needed the medication in question, having mini-unblock's insurance card shouldn't do them any good because they should deny it due to his age.

that said, i'm calling them in the morning. mostly to say
