Scaramucci defends Trump's 'Pocahontas' jab

BY REBECCA SAVRANSKY - 11/28/17 08:29 AM EST

Former White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci defended President Trump after he called Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) "Pocahontas" during an event honoring Native American Code Talkers.

"She's been nasty to him, and he's been concurrently nasty to her," Scaramucci said during an interview on CNN's "New Day." Scaramucci said when he's been a victim of racial slurring, he brushes it off.

"At the end of the day-- we're getting a little bit too micro-managing with each other's languages and the whole political correctness movement," Scaramucci said."I think most people in general are tired of it...I'm totally tired of it."

CNN's Chris Cuomo shot back, saying the country demands better from a president.

Nobody's being accused of micro-managing another's language, Trump is a racist. That's all.

I'm only 2nd generation (dad was born here) and i've never heard such a thing.

He's just making that up. He's never been a victim of anything.

Jake Tapper tweeted about it with respect to Scaramucci.

People can and should evaluate @Scaramucci but the slurs about Italian-Americans are bigoted and self-defeating.

And one would have to be a blithering idiot to not know i'm italian if they heard my last name.

And, aside from that, i don't believe Scaramucci.

What are you talking about? He is one of the most despicable human beings on the planet, who, sickeningly, is probably going to be elected senator.

In terms of racial slurs, I think they are wrong regardless of the politics of the person on the receiving end. One would think that would be a universally agreed upon point of view here.

Sadly, Mr. Scaramucci didn't have any time to actually recount any instances of Sen. Warren being nasty to President Trump; I guess we'll just have to take his word for it, because Chris Cuomo obviously wasn't prepared to ask him for any examples.

I mean, gee whiz, how can we expect multi-millionaire journalists to be ready to ask their guests questions based on what they say? You'd have to be some kind of super-duper question-at-the-ready person to be able to do that!

I guess we should be happy and satisfied with Cuomo saying that the country demands better from a president. Even if we obviously don't.

They're reduced to using the one-week-before-he-was-booted-to-the-curb WH Press Secretary to defend Trump. Sad!
