Joe Scarborough: GOP Tax Plan is the 'Donor Relief Act of 2017'

by Aidan McLaughlin | 7:58 am, November 28th, 2017

MSNBC’s Kasie Hunt noted that donors are demanding the GOP pass tax reform, in light of a series of legislative failures that have marked the first year of the presidency: “I don’t think one poison pill is likely to be the cause of death when you stack it up against the overall failure, and being faced with that,” she said.

“Not that there’s anything wrong with that — but this is all about donors,” Scarborough said. “I’ve never in my 25 years of following politics — I’ve never seen a bill that was more specifically transactional for donors and less popular with the base.”

“This is the Donors Relief Act of 2017,” Scarborough declared.

Hunt pointed out that a lot of Trump donors “don’t necessarily stand to benefit from this tax bill.”

“Can he convince these people that this is actually good for them, at the end of the day?” she asked.
