Mat Staver: Roy Moore Election About Whether We Have Same-Sex Marriage For The Rest Of Our Lives

Liberty Counsel founder Mat Staver vehemently defended Roy Moore in a radio interview on Monday, saying that allegations that Moore pursued sexual relationships with teenage girls were false and insisting that Moore’s election comes down to whether President Trump will be able to appoint another Supreme Court justice who will help to overturn decisions on abortion rights and marriage equality.

Staver said in the interview on VCY America’s “Crosstalk” program that he believes Justice Anthony Kennedy will retire within Trump’s first term in office.

“That means,” Staver said, “when he steps down, two major cases, two major social cases are going to be up for grabs: the abortion decisions of 1973 and 1992 and the same-sex marriage decision of 2015. Kennedy voted the wrong way on both of those and he led the charge on both of those. And if we have another person nominated and confirmed like Gorsuch, someone who is going to follow the rule of law, just look at the Constitution, doesn’t support a right to kill your baby, to abort your child—the answer’s no—doesn’t support a right to have same-sex marriage—the answer is no—that person will be ultimately the swing vote on both of those major issues, not to name many others that will ultimately follow suit.”

“So that’s really what’s at issue,” he continued. “Are we going to have abortion for the rest of our lives, or is the Supreme Court going to reverse this horrible decision of 1973 and ’92? Are we going to have same-sex marriage for the rest of our lives from this 5-4 decision, or are we going to go back to real rule of law and the Constitution that does not grant a right to same-sex marriage? That’s really what’s hanging in the balance, among many things.”

then don't get married to someone of the same sex. Follow your own heart and conscience, and let everyone else follow theirs.
