WATCH: Cop Pepper-Sprays Teacher Who Was Talking On A Cell PhoneThis discussion thread was locked as off-topic by greatauntoftriplets (a host of the Latest Breaking News forum). A Seattle teacher is suing the city after a police officer allegedly pepper-sprayed him while he was walking by and talking to his mother on the phone, KOMO reported on Thursday. Teacher and activist Jesse Hagopian said he was leaving a peaceful Martin Luther King Jr. Day protest on Jan. 19 when he was pepper-sprayed by a police officer who screamed for passersby to "get back." Read more: http://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/jesse-hagopian-seattle-police-pepper-spray Wow! Somebody needs to be in restraints. But wait! I forgot! The officer obviously felt threatened and reacted in self-defense. OK, now I feel better. Don't you?

1. If the use of money can be free speech, why can't the use of pepper spray?
Is somebody trying to deny that frightened police officer her 1st amendment rights? |

2. I don't think self-defense is going to stick here.
It's too obvious that she was indiscriminately spraying everybody she could. She attack a group of us after she attacked the teacher, and then later was screaming at an older woman for no apparent reason. I'm thankful someone caught it on video--I know I have footage from about 30 seconds after the incident, but not during.

3. That officer is an accidernt waiting to happen
They've NOT been trained or evaluated properly OR are just not suited to the profession they're in. I'm NOT trying to excuse the officer in the video, but there are misfits in every walk of life - just look at the jerks in DC. They do terrible things to this nations citizens on a daily basis - and who takes legal action against them???

5. She's in trouble. NONE of the other cops are doing anything to suggest fear
It just seems like she's there by herself the way she's yelling. Ridiculous

7. Weird police behavior, to say the least.
All the other cops are just standing around, looking nonchalant. Except for that one cop, who is screaming and pepper-spraying the crowd. The video looks like a rejected Saturday Night Live skit.
The people who got sprayed deserve an apology from the city, and money for their pain. That cop needs to be taken off the street, immediately and permanently. |

8. Sorry, but we're locking this because it doesn't conform to the LBN SOP.
It was more than 12 hours old when posted.
