New Jeb Bush Hire Called Women 'Sluts' On Twitter

Source: Huffington Post

By Igor Bobic

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush's political action committee has drawn the ire of Democrats over a new staffer's history of offensive remarks on Twitter.

Between 2009 and 2011, Ethan Czahor, co-founder of Hipster.com and now chief technology officer of Right to Rise PAC, made a series of inflammatory comments about "sluts" and gay men at the gym, among others. He took to Twitter on Monday to say that he had "deleted some old jokes i made years ago that i no longer find funny or appropriate. #learning #maturing."

"Governor Bush believes the comments were inappropriate," a spokeswoman for Bush told BuzzFeed. "They have been deleted at our request. Ethan is a great talent in the tech world and we are very excited to have him on board the Right to Rise PAC."

Democrats blasted out the tweets to reporters and criticized Czahor's hiring.

"I’m not sure what sort of conversations are going on with the adults Governor Bush knows, but these statements don’t belong in a schoolyard screaming match, much less in our political discourse," said Rebecca Chalif, a spokeswoman for the Democratic National Committee. "If this is the kind of guy Jeb's team has chosen to lead their digital outreach, it's clear they are not ready for prime time."

If you can bear to watch it, below is a Tea Party HD video from Glenn Beck's Restoring Honor rally where Czahor interview people in the crowd to prove they're really, truly not racists. (His segment starts about the 3:35 mark.)

I vaguely recall Tea Party HD, which was supposed to be a tea party new media site but soon turned out to be just one more right-wing scam.

http://talkingpointsmemo.com/muckraker/alleged-tea-party-hd-scammer-countersues-former-business-partners

A conservative businessman, accused of scamming investors in a Tea Party television venture, is countersuing his former business partners, claiming that they conspired against him and that he "has suffered shame and humiliation" as a result of their suit. . . .

"The alleged purpose of Tea Party HD was to be the 'world's first HD provider of news about the Tea Party,'" the initial lawsuit stated. "In reality it was an investment scheme to defraud politically conservative-minded citizens who support the Tea Party mission." The suit requested $19 million in punitive damages and a return of the initial investments.

At that time he was introduced as the founder of stoprosie.com, a site dedicated to getting Rosie O'Donnell's taken off ABC's "The View" because of her 911 conspiracy theories.

As was noted at the time, he was also an actor, with his resume and headshots online (https://www.nowcasting.com/actor/popup/viewactor.php?actorID=ethanz5), which raised suspicions that he was a hired front for someone who preferred to remain in the shadows.

Republicans VERY CAREFULLY screen applicants for all positions, looking for maturity, wisdom, logical thought, ability to interact with a diverse range of people.

Then, they toss out all the ones who have those characteristics and hire the flaming assholes. It's what they do.

are actually almost funny from my perspective. My two daughters are gorgeous - and one is getting a PhD in Physical Chemistry at MIT and the other one is majoring in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science at Tufts. And they are kind, hard working, and DEMOCRATS - way more important issues than their appearance. And Czahor? You wouldn't stand a chance with either of them.

Just as most high school students dread Chemistry in their junior year, so too did we Chem majors dread P-Chem in our junior year.

So congrats to your daughters for pursuing science despite the barriers that society continues to put up. When I started college 36 years ago, we had about 100 Chem majors. At graduation 4 years later, we were down to 15 with that major (out of a class of about 4000 total).

But she loves it. Doing some very cool research on nano particles at MIT. Studied space ices (!) doing her undergrad at Wellesley College. It's so wonderful that she has this opportunity. To your comments - she dreaded "orgo". Different strokes. I just told her that she can do anything on this planet that she wants to do --- except work for Monsanto! Damn, but it's hard to have a mother who's so deeply political.

For some stupid reason, I was able to memorize dozens and dozens of organic reaction mechanisms... But don't try to ask me one now. Had a great professor too (and still have my old Morrison and Boyd textbook). Ended up doing senior year research in organo-metallic chemistry (focus on nickel compounds as an intermediary for polymerization).

Just glad to see women staying with the sciences and yeah, sometimes Moms have to impart that "knowledge" about some of these companies.

I made the mistake of taking 2 semesters of organic chem in 8 weeks of summer school. Damn near did me in. That was back on 1973, and I still have nightmares about it sometimes. I recall the textbook not being particularly helpful.

All I remember from that class is the French scientist Kekule' (sp?) who figured out the 6 carbon ring structure after dreaming about a snake with its tail in its mouth, that making soap is called saponification, carbs are CH2O, ammonia is NH3, esters can smell good, and if it ends in -OH it's an alcohol.

Oh, one other VERY important thing - NEVER directly sniff a vial full of anything to try to figure out what it is - always gently wave your hand over the vial to waft a bit of it towards you. Made that mistake with ammonia -

Benzene rings. OMG haven't heard the name Kekule in decades... And that made me think of Avogadro's number or as it was always spoken - Sixpointohtwotimestentothetwentythird. That's it. I'm going to lose some important brain files now.

Ammonia is rough (which is what got produced in "smelling salts&quot .

What is it that they say? "Old chemists never die, they just fail to react".

...obviously took some chem courses because their ad for guacamole uses the term "Avocadro's number." Admirable cleverness, and maybe the only everyday usefulness for organic chem if you are not employed in the field.

The professor for the summer organic course was very understanding and graded on an extremely liberal curve. One memorable time the curve for a "C" was 36, which is exactly what I got.
