Bill banning job discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender identity moves ahead

Source: Omaha World Herald

By Joe Duggan

LINCOLN — A bill to prohibit employment discrimination against people based on sexual orientation or gender identity has advanced to the floor of the Nebraska Legislature.

Legislative Bill 586 would ban job discrimination against gay, lesbian and transgender Nebraskans. The eight-member Judiciary Committee advanced the legislation Tuesday with the required minimum of five votes.

The proposal is similar to one lawmakers debated last year. That bill failed to pass because of a filibuster.

Lincoln Sen. Adam Morfeld, a member of the committee who sponsored LB 586, said Tuesday he was pleased the bill has made it to the floor.

that does house clean outs. Told me he hires anyone including ex-cons and tells them the only thing he cares about is that they come to work and work hard. Some are really loyal as he is the only one to give them a chance and pays well.
