TV audience increases as O'Reilly faces criticism of work

Source: AP-Excite

NEW YORK (AP) — More viewers have tuned in to watch Fox News Channel host Bill O'Reilly as he faces criticism for some of his past reporting.

His show, "The O'Reilly Factor," drew just over 3 million viewers Wednesday night. That's up 11 percent over the same day last year.

The Nielsen ratings company says O'Reilly had his largest audience since November among the 25-54 age demographic, the basis of most ad sales for news programming.

The audience among that younger demo was up 64 percent over last year for O'Reilly, who usually has a decidedly older audience.

How many times have we seen this kind of mentality...judging a person through our view of his/her enemies.

It is the f'ed up logic of opinion rather than fact. The fact that Bill-o wasn't in a war zone, wasn't in front of a house where a suicide was committed, now seems to have not been in an LA riot. Those are all facts...and every propagandist worth their salt knows you don't bring a fact to an opinion fight.

It's now at the drip drip drip stage and every day he's lashing out at his critics. Everybody's a liar, they all have it in for him because he's so brave and manly. Everything they aren't.

The paranoia is getting stronger with each new revelation. Sooner or later he's gonna snap. Of course fox will never fire him but there's a very good chance of a spectacular public crash and burn and people don't want to miss that.

The ultimate reality show. O'Reilly babbling and drooling as he's led out of the studio in a straight jacket by the guys in white coats. A ratings bonanza that you gotta see.

calling attention to the lies that FOX supports as a matter of policy. Give it time and this will hurt FOX in all the right places. I have hope.

The audience among that younger demo was up 64 percent over last year for O'Reilly, who usually has a decidedly older audience.

That's not about what's happened recently. Even COSTCO, which used to carry Moore, Franken and other liberal books and DVDs, is out of - or not carrying them when I'm looking to see which way the wind blows.

What I do see are Brillo's books regularly, and I see young professionals are buying his books with his spin on American history and who and what is right and wrong. They didn't have a liberal education that supported progressive values such as when I was in school. They are ready to take in what's offered.

The young are turning more conservative and that includes Libertarians, who claim to be the true liberals. Many of the demographics that some Democrats believe are going to carry the torch, are not going to do that because they're a product of a generation of media that is conservative. We don't want to hear it, but it's happening anyway.

The disinformation venue of CT that some claim defend liberal values, does nothing of the sort and is Bircher. That is as conservative as it gets. The memes go in deep into the mind and never come back out. They are a convert for life.

When the rich say they should get more speech and their votes mean more than the rest of ours do, this is what you get. The media sends out their messages and they will be taken in subconsciously or even consciously.

We are overwhelmed by the amount of money they have to influence our minds. Even here on DU, people whose replies follow the first one on a thread, who doesn't want to disagree with the OP or the other posters in order to get along. It's not that common, but I see it as a 'Me Too Ism.' The most fatuous assumption can be made in a thread, and no one dare say nay, but they don't think about the implications of said opinion piece based on media disinformation.

I've come to realize that people don't think that much any more, they only repeat and react as they hear things put out there. This won't end well.

Fox doesn't give a shit about the truth, and neither does Bill or his fans.

He got away with sexual harassment, he will get away with lying.

For all you who are convinced watching Fox has some sort of merit, this would be a good time to quit watching.
