Baby found alive hours after car overturns in river

(CNN)When a man went to a Utah river Saturday hoping to haul out fish, he inadvertently saved the life of a baby who had been trapped -- possibly for half a day.
The angler waded into Spanish Fork River around noon, and noticed a car upside down in the water, public safety officials said in a statement.
Rescuers arrived and tipped the four-door car onto its side. They found the 18-month-old girl strapped in her car seat, still alive. The baby was taken to a Salt Lake City hospital, where she was in critical condition.
Rescuers also found the body of her mother in the driver's seat.

(115,677 posts)nothing but curiosity at what the dead person may have done to cause their own death. I realize her family will probably never read DU, but there always has to be someone who takes the time to reply in this sort of way rather than just shutting down the thread and moving on.

(30,741 posts)We started after our children starting traveling more. This winter, it has been a good idea to keep that in practice, even though we don't all live near each other any more. Cell phone or no cell phone, it is better to make that phone call!
