Ohio leads the nation in job losses in March even though unemployment rate fell

Cleveland, Ohio -- Ohio led the nation in job losses in March, even as the state's unemployment rate inched downward.
Fewer jobs, but more people working? Blame the contradiction on how data used in calculating the jobless rate are collected.
George Zeller, an economic research analyst in Cleveland, cited "technical inconsistencies" that caused the apparently conflicting numbers. Either way, the figures cement a disturbing trend, he said. Ohio --like much of the nation -- is experiencing a slow recovery.
"At the current rate, it will take Ohio more than 12 years just to recover the jobs that were lost in the 2007 recession," he said.

(78,249 posts)So now we have a campaign controversy where a Romney campaign adviser compares Romney to an Etch-a-Sketch, noting Romney will look conservative during the primary season, but he can be shaken up and reset so we can bring out the real Mitt Romney after the Republican convention. The real Mitt Romney meaning the Romney that despises the Reagan record and pushes the Obama side of the equation.
"Well, I think you hit a reset button for the fall campaign. Everything changes. Its almost like an Etch A Sketch. You can kind of shake it up and restart all of over again."
Well the Etch-a-Sketch comment may come back and hurt Romney not just with conservatives. It appears the critical state of Ohio will think back to the days when Ohioans went to work making the popular Etch-a-Sketch toy. That is until Mitt Romney's Bain Capital bought it up and sent those jobs to China.
For 40 years the Etch a Sketch was produced in Bryan Ohio by the Ohio Art Company. But in 2003 production was moved to China putting 100 employees out of work in this small town of about 8,000 who had for decades billed itself as the home of the Etch a Sketch.

(8,556 posts)I really can't say. Kasich will get alot of the blame for the economy, but he's not up this year. Obama will get some of it as well.
I'd say 50-50 this year, 65-35 that Kasich is gone in 2014, as long as the Dems can put up somebody halfway decent.
