Indiegogo removes fundraisers that supported S.C. police officer
Source: Chicago Tribune
Online crowdfunding platform Indiegogo on Friday afternoon removed all fund-raising campaigns in support of South Carolina police officer Michael Slager.
The move came about a day after crowdfunding site GoFundMe took the same action.
Slager, who is white, was charged Tuesday with murder after video surfaced of him fatally shooting an unarmed black man, Walter Scott, in the back during a traffic stop.
Supporters of Slager promptly attempted fundraising campaigns for him on GoFundMe and Indiegogo. GoFundMe rejected one such campaign, telling Blue Sky on Thursday that the campaign violated its terms and conditions

About time.
Slager has no defense funds being crowdfunded.
Last amount the campaign was able to raise is 1,500.
That'll get him an attorney for 4 hours. Hopefully long enough to plead guilty.
Mods: I know it's from yesterday, but it is within the 12 hour mark.

(6,913 posts)I am dumbfounded he has supporters to deal with. He, or his union, can hire him representation.

(14,449 posts)These usually start with Facebook and go from there. Even though he is a murderer his friends and family may want to make sure his wife is taken care of. Ok I am just being too nice. Glad to see the two fundraising sites won't participate in collecting for a murderer. They will bigots but not murderers but that's for another time.

(3,626 posts)(His wife) is devastated that 'he had to miss' going to her doctor's appointment as he usually did; (and) they 'worked so hard for this baby'. The disconnect and irony is beyond belief. In the linked article his mom never uttered one single word of sympathy towards the Scott family. Mind blowing. FFS, at least pretend when you're making public statements.

(28,387 posts)Abandoned was the word used in the article. His employer, his attorney and his professional association abandoned him.
I'm not sure what the professional organization is because I don't think they're unionized down there. They said he tarnished the badge.
His callous decisions of murder and cover-up not ruined his own life, they devastated so many others.

Where's the crowd funding campaign to help me pay my credit card bills, or my student loans, or the repairs I need to make in my kitchen?
This guy and Darren Wilson gun down a innocent person and they get a fundraising campaign.
