Boat Races 2015: Oxford beat Cambridge in women's race (make history)
Source: BBC News
Heavy favourites Oxford beat Cambridge to win the historic first staging of the Women's Boat Race on the same course and same day as the men.
They finished well clear over the four-mile, 374-yard stretch from Putney Bridge to Chiswick Bridge on Saturday.
The Dark Blues were half a length up after the first minute and pulled away to finish in 19 minutes 42 seconds.
It was a seventh success in eight years for Oxford in the 70th staging of a contest first held in 1927.

One of the last bastions of gender inequality in sport will end when the Women's Boat Race is held on the same course and same day as the men's.
Female crews representing Oxford and Cambridge will row the four miles, 374 yards from Putney Bridge to Chiswick Bridge on Saturday - for the first time in the 87 years they have competed.
Both races will be live on BBC One.
Oxford Women's crew has just won!

(11,563 posts)1. My sister rowed at Oxford.
Just for her college, though, and not the university. Still, it was noteworthy.
RIP Janis.
