Trey Gowdy: I 'lack the authority' to subpoena Hillary Clinton's server
Source: politico
The chairman of the House committee investigating the Benghazi terrorist attacks said Wednesday that his panel lacks the authority to subpoena Hillary Clintons private server.
Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.) said that while the House has authority to issue a subpoena for the server on which the former secretary of state stored her personal and professional emails, the Select Committee on Benghazi has a more limited jurisdiction.
For my committee, which has a more limited jurisdiction, we, No. 1, lack the authority under House rules to subpoena the server, Gowdy said in an interview with conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt. The House as an entity, its an open legal question, but most experts believe that the House could subpoena that server.
Gowdy has been given the unofficial task of probing Clintons private email use, but if she declines to appear before the panel to answer questions in a private, transcribed interview, it would be up to Speaker John Boehner not the Benghazi committee to take action against Clinton. Gowdy, a South Carolina Republican, asked Clinton earlier this month to answer questions on her email use before May 1.

(1,926 posts)Trey, it is jerks like you that make our government suck so much.
No wonder most people don't vote.
Someone should take Hillary's hard drive, and shove it up your
you know what. Would be far better than what you deserve.
Especially after refusing to fund proper security for our
embassies.
Republicans killed ambassador Stevens.
Plain as day.
No Marine security = dead ambassadors.

(50,557 posts)Now he says he can't get the server because his committee doesn't have subpoena power.
Just like I said when the "wiping" lie (that a LOT of you fell for) came out, Hillary is shutting down Gowdy before this Benghazi shit becomes Whitewater II. She's already had Republicans searching her underwear trying to find purported billing records that ddn't exist (news flash to the GOP: the first thing any lawyer buys is a shredder) and will not allow it again.

(14,173 posts)And concluded that there was nothing that could have prevented it. On top of that, that there was no "stand down" order, and also that the infamous YouTube video actually DID have an influence on the actions that night. This was from a Republican dominated committee. Why do we keep hearing about it?

(50,557 posts)Pay particular attention to the way Major Hellstrom and Colonel Landa conduct interrogations: they stay on your ass until you break. This is EXACTLY what the Republicans are doing in regards to Benghazi. From this moment until January 20, 2020, the Republicans are going to work their asses off to try to impeach President Obama. That he won't actually be president after January 20, 2017, is immaterial; they figure they can impeach him anyway.
They see Benghazi as their best hope to destroy this president's legacy. This means they will investigate Benghazi from now until the end of time.

(22,651 posts)2 days before 9-11 'date' that person called for protests & attacks at American compounds over the outrage generated from that video. remember there were huge protests over that b-grade mocking video?
That video was made in America and promoted for 9-11 date, trouble. the video that apparently spurred these incidents. It was clearly crafted to provoke, offend, and to evoke outrage.
