I've just always been puzzled why a doctor with a prestigious position in a prestigious institution would consent to be Oprah's flavor of the month and shill for dollars (oh wait a minute...)

(7,318 posts)Dr. Oz is guilty of either outrageous conflicts of interest or flawed judgments about what constitutes appropriate medical treatments, or both, the letter concluded.
Whatever the nature of his pathology, members of the public are being misled and endangered, which makes Dr. Ozs presence on the faculty of a prestigious medical institution unacceptable.

(19,926 posts)his show. The intro said he was having a psychic on! And sure enough, there she was. She threw out some generic thing she was "getting" from the audience about someone losing their mother with some circumstances described and sure enough someone raised their hand. Then she said something about the brother and the woman said no, but another woman raised her hand and said yes, her brother passed and that was the situation and the woman next to her as well.
So then... the psychic said something about isn't it weird how they happened to be sitting right next to each other, how do you explain that? And one of the women from the audience started to say "I can explain it-" and Dr. Oz cut her off. Hehe... my guess is either they were family members and the brother is the same person, brother to them both, or the show asked people beforehand if they wanted to ask the psychic a question and if so to write it on a card and so that's how they knew what to have the psychic "hear". Or both. But I figure it was rigged somehow. Psychics notoriously throw out suggestions and then get people to give up information making it seem that the psychic was right all along.
Anyway... the real point is, what is a medical doctor doing having a psychic on the show???

Woody Harrelson played a cold reader in "Now You See Me". That was a fun movie. Near the beginning he does an impressive bit of cold reading about a woman that is pretty hilarious to watch.

This strongly suggests a Monsatan(I mean Monsanto)-backed smear campaign. And the fact that the guy who is spearheading this is from the Hoover Institution(the right-wing "think tank" at Stanford) is also very telling.

(2,157 posts)Trauma Center nonetheless and it isn't some Bullshit reality show either and Dr Oz is a very multi talented physician who operates on patients, he's not afraid to get his hands dirty & him & his team will do everything to save a life. So I call Bullshit.
Now if you wanna discuss Bullshit Doctors who no longer practice anymore look no further than that fake ass greedy POS 'Dr' Sanjay Gupta who had the opportunity to show his dedication to his Country & his genuine commitment to the medical community when he was offered the position of Surgeon General of the United States of America...
Instead he lied saying he would be better served continuing working as a Physician... In reality he didn't take the position because CNN was paying the greedy bastard more & paying him to travel around the world to make news segments playing Doctor.

Anyone who can change the hearts and minds of the "Reefer Madness" crowd as Gupta has, has my undivided support as well as that of the families with children suffering from Dravets - some of whom have actually moved to Colorado for help.
His work shedding light on cannabis will do BOATLOADS more for relief for people than he ever could have accomplished as SG with both hands tied behind his back.

(12,022 posts)"Common consensus" was that it was just a recreational drug that needed to be kept away from everyone. It took a brave doctor like Gupta to admit he's changed his mind and now believes in the benefits of medical marijuana. Sometimes, it's the lone voice in the wilderness who actually speaks the truth.

Cancer Treatment
No clinical trials of Cannabis as a treatment for cancer in humans were identified in a PubMed search; however, a single, small study of intratumoral injection of delta-9-THC in patients with recurrent glioblastoma multiforme reported potential antitumoral activity.[14,15]

(12,022 posts)Who the hell wants to deal with going before Senate committees and getting pummeled by Republicans, who would of course have assassinated his character due to his stance on pot? Maybe he doesn't want to go into politics, which is what the Surgeon General position is really all about. Not everyone wants to run for office. Not everyone wants to be destroyed by the GOP.
I fully understood why he declined the "opportunity." Look what the GOP did to Obama's nominee, Dr. Vivek Murphy, just because he's concerned about gun violence.

So far I haven't seen you address that crusade of yours where you asserted a DU rule that did not exist and you repeatedly alerted on people who posted jury results.
I think my request that you address it is fair.

I hope you can accept my apology and we can move on, I admit I made a mistake in that statement, I should have said in my opinion.
