Bill Cosby accused of sexual assault by 2 more women, including “Cosby Show” actress

The long list of Cosby accusers just keeps getting longer: In a press conference held by attorney Gloria Allred in New York this Friday, two women, Lili Bernard and Sammie Mays, both accused Cosby of drugging and sexually assaulting them.

Mays, a writer, says she met Cosby at a convention in New Orleans in the late ’80s, and that she became unconscious after receiving a drink from Cosby. She woke up half undressed and falling out of her chair.

Bernard, an actress who appeared on the final season of the “Cosby Show” and viewed Cosby as a mentor, claims that the comic drugged and raped her in the early ‘90s. “He praised me,” said Bernard. “He lifted me up. I believed him. After all, he was Bill Cosby. After he had won my complete trust and adoration, he drugged me and raped me.” Bernard added that when she saw Cosby in 1992 he threatened her and said “You’re dead, Bernard. You don’t exist. I never wanna see your face again.”

“I am coming forward to show my six-year-old daughter to stand in truth, and to say that I have survived Bill Cosby’s drugging and raping me,” Bernard continued. “I stand here to take back my power and to confront the fear that has paralyzed me for so many years.”

and yes I know about the other claims women have been making about him but thats not physical evidence so unless Cosby would suddenly confess I dont see this case going anywhere just like the others.

When as many women over so many years have the same story to tell then to me that is credible evidence. Most of these women didn't know one another either and most of their stories are enough different to be the same to give them credibility too. I say put him on the stand under oath and lets have a conversation with the person who is Bill Cosby and let the shit fall where it may.

is one where you need evidence and sadly so much time has passed that it makes getting a conviction unlikely because of that lack of evidence and he'll never take the stand and testify and you can't force him to do it in a criminal case, atleast not if you want the case to survive the appeals process.

What I don't understand is how someone who seems to have been a serial rapist got away with it for so many years. Didn't even one woman go to the authorities?

It's hard to prove these cases. Successful sexual predators groom their prey and gain their trust. Women doubt themselves, then live with PTSD. The media, cops, everyone says women bring accusations against rich and famous men out of a sick need for attention and/or to extort money out of them. Double-standard Victim-blaming is quite the cultural phenomenon. It makes it extremely difficult to speak out.

What's happening now is that a woman finally got a notorious and ballsy lawyer, Gloria Allred, to take her case. Allred is more than happy to have publicity, and the more publicity there was the more women came forward to say that the exact same thing happened to them, and even though the statute of limitations had run out for them and they had nothing to gain personally, they wanted to support the one(s) who still had a case. Now it's like an avalanche.

14. The only thing I ever read about her was that she was the problem child in the "family"...

The actors from the Huxtable family had some sort of reunion a number of years ago and she was not there. The comments were along the lines of "Oh well you know Lisa was the problem child on the set, and Cosby gave her extra chances, but..." That kind of thing. All I thought at the time was that every person is different and not everyone fits in, tho it was too bad, because you know, Wonderful Cosby.

Then all this crap started coming out, and somewhere around the 10th woman I remembered Lisa, and how for no reason at all she began to have emotional problems and didn't fit in any more.

Maybe her problems have nothing to do with Cosby being a pervert -- but I still wonder.

especially given she didn't show up at the reunion. If so, maybe it's just a matter of time before she'll go public and all these other women coming forward may convince her it is the right thing to do.
