Mike Huckabee Joins Republican Presidential Race

Source: New York Times

Mike Huckabee, who excited evangelical voters in his first presidential race in 2008 and retains much of their good will, announced on Tuesday that he will again seek the Republican nomination, despite a crowded field of rivals for his natural base in the party.

A former Southern Baptist pastor and Arkansas governor, Mr. Huckabee is returning in hopes of once more dominating among social conservatives, but he is acutely aware he needs broader support to avoid the snares of last time, when he ran dry of money and failed to appeal much beyond the South.

“I announce that I am a candidate for president of the United States of America,” he said to a crowd of cheering supporters.

It was no small detail that he declared his candidacy in Hope, where he was born. Its fame as the hometown of an even better-known Arkansas politician, Bill Clinton, highlights a major theme of Mr. Huckabee’s 2016 pitch – that he is well suited to be the Republican nemesis for Hillary Rodham Clinton, if she becomes the Democratic nominee, because Mr. Huckabee spent years in state politics triumphing over what he calls the “Clinton machine.”

More fun during the few debates the Repugs will allow. Funny, they've figured out that they can't win if people know a lot about them, so they've cut down on that information. It won't help much, the candidate, whichever clown it is, will kill his/herself trying to please the base.

Officially or with exploratory committees we have, so far: Bush, Carson, Christie, Cruz, Fiorina, Graham, Huckabee, Jindal, Pataki, Paul, Perry, Rubio, Santorum, Trump and Walker. Fifteen. And those are just the ones we've heard of; there are also these guys, who are more obscure and in some cases even loonier: Andrews, Bowers, Christensen, Dummett, Everson, Hill, Kinlaw, Lynch, Petyo and Russell. Then throw in potentials Ehrlich, Kasich, King and Snyder. http://2016.republican-candidates.org/#Declared-Republican-Candidates

I think we're gonna need a bigger clown car.

I realize that these guys hate Democrats, but they hate her even more. Do they think she will be easy to beat? I think the GOP thought Obama was SO AWFUL that defeating him would be a slam dunk.

Are they just trying to get money for their super PACs, which they can employ friends and family and pay them astronomical salaries. Then they can shut it down and pocket the money. Stephen Colbert showed how that can be done, although he gave all his súper PAC money to charity.

as a belief by some of them that the US has become infested with evil Godless liberals and they are the person who can save it (e.g., Huckabee, Santorum, Paul, Cruz); or cynics who think they can make a buck off the publicity (Trump, Carson, Fiorina, maybe Walker); or wannabes who are angling for the VP spot (Walker, Fiorina, Jindal, maybe Graham); or clueless idiots (that would be you, Rick Perry). I think they'd do this no matter who the presumed Dem nominee might be.

today as he tried to out-lie, out-Christian, and out-populist all the great Republican candidates. Being a man of the people he told us what programs he's going to cut when he's President, how he's going to war against Isis, and how he will make this a Christian country as the founding fathers meant it to be. Since he's trying to live on $5,000,000 he's going to need a lot of money from us little people for his campaign.

Will we ever see the day when Republicans nominate one decent person like Eisenhower for President? Probably not since they don't seem to be looking beyond these clowns.

Yesterday Fiorina announced her candidacy touting her business experience. This woman who fucked up both Lucent and Hewlett Packard. Her stewardship at HP was so bad the board of directors ended up firing her ass.

It's well known that if a convicted felon wanted then Governor of Arkansas Mike Huckabee to commute their sentence all they had to do was claim they had found Jesus and been born again. There are a total of six people that I know of who were murdered as a result of Huckabee's actions.
