High School Principal Recants Apology for Racially Charged Public Meltdown

Source: Takepart.com

Instead of just waiting for people to regroup after the snafu, Gordeuk berated the confused audience, calling grads and their families "so rude" for getting up. Then came a racial non sequitir specifying exactly who she thought was ill-mannered.

"Look who's leaving—all the black people," she said according to multiple videos posted to YouTube from Friday's ceremony. Her comment drew audible gasps and many attendees stood to leave after hearing that—the Internet stood up and took notice, too.

At first, Gordeuk apologized for the comments, saying over the weekend that, essentially, the devil made her do it.

But she has since defended the remarks, telling NBC News she didn't think what she was saying was racist: "I am not a racist, I didn't know 'black people' was a racist term."

Gordeuk went so far as to point out to NBC that she didn't use the N-word. That would have been racist, she allowed.

This is the one where the principal and founder of the TNT Academy in Georgia forgot to let the valedictorian give his speech and dismissed the students, then realized her goof, and asked the students not to leave....

she didn't know that her phrase was racist. That makes it alright then. Nothing to see here, move along.

Or did she seize the initiative herself, to make a bad situation into an even worse one? She needs to lose her job, and damn soon.

I was born and raised in the Atlanta area and continue to live in the same general area. I obtained Bachelor of Science degrees in Biology and Chemistry at North Georgia College in Dahlonega, GA. I obtained my Master of Science degree in Science Education while in Virginia. I just completed courses to for an MS in Educational Leadership and Supervision.

As to her Master's degree, Who knows what she means by "in Virginia."

She came right out and said, "How rude!" Then came the 'black people' comment. Her meaning was crystal clear.

Truly unbelievable display of racism from the principal of a high school.

Screws up and dismisses the audience before the ceremony is over then gripes because they listened to her. Throws in a confusing racial stereotype to boot. Just retire now and find something else to do.
