California Governor Declares State Of Emergency After Oil Spill
Source: Reuters
California Governor Jerry Brown issued an emergency proclamation on Wednesday for Santa Barbara County where crews are working to clean up the largest oil spill to hit the local coastline in nearly two decades.
"This emergency proclamation cuts red tape and helps the state quickly mobilize all available resources," Brown said in a statement. "We will do everything necessary to protect California's coastline."

(17,064 posts)Although single-hulled tankers are dangerous, I don't see how they relate to the current spill. Single-hulled tankers aren't even permitted to operate in US waters anymore, and are being phased out worldwide. Only Exxon-Mobil still ships primarily in single-hulled tankers, as of 2008. Perhaps you can explain the relevance of already banned single-hull tankers to the current pipeline spill.

(24,010 posts)Yeah, now that it's smothered in oil ONCE AGAIN!
And who is "we"? Yup, guess who gets to pay for this abomination ONCE AGAIN!
I have so had it with Democrats who bend over for Big Oil.
And guess what? We don't get to choose Democrats who don't bend over for Big Oil. That's the hell of it.
And you gotta laugh (and cry) at the emergency proclamation cutting red tape and helping the state quickly mobilize all available resources--cuz that's what they have done for Big Oil to make these abominable spills INEVITABLE. They've cut the red tape for them; they've mobilized the state to give all available resources AWAY, regardless of the needs of our people, and regardless of the destruction of our very planet.
