Solar-Panel Installer SolarCity Plans To Go Public

Source: Wall Street Journal

California solar-panel installer SolarCity Corp. said Monday that it plans to file for an initial public offering.

The San Mateo, Calif., company said it filed confidential draft registration documents last week with the Securities and Exchange Commission. It was unclear when the company planned to file public registration documents and when it plans to go public.

A SolarCity spokesman declined to provide details beyond a brief prepared statement.

The filing comes at a time of great strain for solar-panel manufacturers, as prices and profits have plunged amid a global oversupply of panels and relatively weak demand.

Any venture having to do with Elon Musk is a big Red Warning Sign. He basically took Tesla from a promising new technology start-up electric car company and drove it into the ground.

He's not much different than that Samuel Cohen who got nailed for 30 years in prison, except Elon's smart enough to not overtly defraud people.

9. You're completely misinformed. He put hundreds of millions of his own money into Tesla.

I own a Tesla Roadster Sport and I've been to the incredible Model S factory and ridden in a Model S. I went to the unveiling of the Model X SUV and it's totally cool. His cars are completely amazing. You're a fool for spreading such outrageous charges. The model S will be shipping in July, and when it does the people who shorted his stock will feel a very painful financial sting that they will never forget.

Elon Musk's Tesla company is also providing drive trains and battery packs to Mercedes, Toyota, and other major auto manufacturers. He has more than 5000 drive trains on the road and they're totally proven. He's come through on every single promise he's made.

I've never seen such misinformation on the DU forum. Get your facts straight before you spread such nonsense.

That's how these solar co's keep going broke. Put the panels on rooftops and in people's yards, and you've got a winner.

the lowest possible cost for the quality, then installs them on homes and can also provides Tesla battery packs for overnight power. Solar City has been buying up solar installation companies all over the country for a couple of years. They're very powerful. I believe their value is already over 1.5B.
