(4,019 posts)Do you have more information than the article provided? I don't see anything that would indicate people shooting at each other.

(597 posts)from the most recent news reports, there was only one shooter and the shooter was one of the dead. So at this moment it looks like a murder-suicide. In addition, Grand Air Force base says a local airman was one of the people killed or injured, but not whether this individual was the shooter or a victim.

Americans killed by ISIS: 4
Americans killed by the NRA: 30000. Per year.

BTW, 2/3 of those deaths are suicides, better mental heath care would alleviate a huge number of those suicides.

(37,748 posts)Shame the NRA was so adamantly opposed to the CDC doing research into the health and safety issue they pressured the politicians in their pockets to prevent funding for it.
Yes, yes... the NRA is very concerned about suicides, mental health and safety issues.

(9,951 posts)What the NRA opposed was the CDC using politicized, bias sources to push a political point, they were never banned from doing neutral based studies.

Don't get me wrong: the NRA is as full of shit as a portapotty at the end of a week-long music festival. But attribution of primary responsibility for firearms crimes to anyone other than the person committing those crimes is fatuous.

It's nice that we have the ability (and a venue) to do so in a reasonably civil manner.

(12,194 posts)What kind of mental gymnastics are required, to take 20,000 deaths in which the people who died chose to end their own lives, and lay responsibility at the feet of...well anyone else, other than those making that choice.
Tell me fred, when someone takes a long drive in a short garage, whos fault is it?
The garage manufacturer/builder?
The auto maker?
Triple A?

(597 posts)But certain DU'ers insist on making any LBN that involves a gun their personal soapbox to rant from. See the very first comment for an example (he's had LBN stories locked for just that reason). And this of course brings out opposition views (mea culpa).
I've been checking up on this story every hour or so via news.google, but have not seen anything new in a while. If you find updates, more information would certainly be better than issue-based sniping. Consider me chastised.

ALERTER'S COMMENTS
Dragging out a poster's previous locked post to prove he's not credible is dirty pool, doesn't fit in an LBN thread. It's a personal attack, holding the poster up to ridicule for his opinion.
