Oklahoma man shot, killed by police after fight over rescue

Source: AP

OKMULGEE, Okla. (AP) — An Oklahoma state trooper fatally shot a man who was involved in a fight with two troopers who were trying to rescue him and another man from floodwaters, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol said Saturday.

The troopers responded to a report of a stranded vehicle in Okmulgee County, about 20 miles south of Tulsa, about 9:30 p.m. Friday. They found two men trying to remove a vehicle from a roadway over which water was rising and moving quickly, according to Capt. Paul Timmons.

"They were trying to get them to come out of the water. They were worried about them getting swept away," Timmons said. &quot The men), for whatever reason, were just really upset about having to leave the vehicle there."

At least one man attacked a trooper after reaching dry land and was shot and killed. It wasn't immediately known how many shots were fired or whether one or both troopers shot.

Another big shock > "he second man was arrested for assault and public intoxication"

I bet that Highway Patrolman - better trained than your average officer - really wishes he or she had not been put in the middle of that.

I've been swung at trying to pull people out of the water, too.

Hence, violent unwillingness to cooperate and abandon their vehicle for the safety of their own lives.

All assuming, of course, the cops aren't lying yet again.

You want your life to go south for you or your loved ones...just call the police. The reason does not matter. I don't think they can even wipe their ass anymore without getting a shot off.
They have no credibility and they have no honor. The bad ones do what they want and walk.
The not-so-bad ones close ranks regardless of how outrageous the action and hide behind their code of silence. That makes them at least as bad...sometimes worse.

so I grabbed my axe and yelled that I did. He/she left before I could get the light on. I didn't call them. I have a dog that looks ferocious and was afraid they'd kill her. Wouldn't be the first time these chicken shits have killed a dog, sure wasn't taking a chance.

I wouldn't ever call the cops in my town, don't trust the newer ones, too militarized. They asked my sister what she did to make her husband hit her ten years ago. They've only gotten worse here.
