Man's death at Ky. Derby track called a homicide

Associated PressBy COLIN FLY | Associated Press – 3 hrs ago

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — The discovery of a man's body Sunday in the stable area of Churchill Downs was being investigated as a homicide, but there appears to be no connection to the race track or the Kentucky Derby, police said.

"At this point we don't have anything pointing to the fact that this had any association with Churchill Downs or the Derby itself," said Alicia Smiley, spokeswoman for Louisville Metro Police. "We are still investigating at the stables and at the barn." She said they are trying to determine the man's identity and how it happened.

Smiley said the death is being investigated as a homicide.

I knew nothing about horses, horse racing, or many other topics until I read the Dick Francis mysteries. I have read every one of them. If you are a mystery buff, check them out. If you're not into horses, have no fear. I'm not either. Horses are sort of in the background in most of them and I actually have learned quite a lot from reading these.
