Bernie Sanders' Eye-Popping West Coast Swing: 3 Days, 70,000 Cheering Supporters

Source: Bloomberg

Some 27,000 people descended Monday night on the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena, which has hosted acts such as Madonna and Pink Floyd, to hear from a raspy-voiced 73-year-old who has become the 2016 political season's breakout star.

For Senator Bernie Sanders, the Vermont Democrat and self-proclaimed socialist, it was the third staggeringly large crowd in three nights that capped a west coast swing that put his political rivals on notice. From fellow white-haired activists to youth wielding signs depicting him as "Bernie Man," his head grafted onto a stick figure representing the counterculture Burning Man festival in Nevada, his fans turned out in numbers that other candidates might only dream of at this early stage in the race.

Chicago would love to have Bernie speak! I hope he plans to come here.
MSM won't give him the coverage the Donald is getting .
MSM has already chosen our two candidates Jeb/Clinton.
Doesn't matter how many crowds Bernie gets they'll focus on HIllary and make out Jeb has some brilliant ideas for our country!
MSM doesn't bother with anyone other than the ones that they put on a platter for us to choose from.
I wanted Dennis Kucinich, but they dismissed him, he didn't have the John Edwards looks!
I'm hoping that THE PEOPLE choose BERNIE and the MSM has no choice but to go with him.
The BERNIE tidal wave maybe getting under way.
If we want our country and Democracy back, then Bernie has to win!

but as a watcher of many previous campaigns, something very different is happening. People of all ages are flocking to hear him speak. There is a bare minimum of news coverage, next to no advertising. Yet, the people keep coming. What ever it is, I hope that this "ground swell" will continue to pick up momentum. If it carries Bernie into the Presidency, Global politics will be revolutionized.

Please someone who is a better writer and political expert than I, expand on my points. What's going on? What is driving this?

not slick. He is not slicing and dicing weasel words. He is speaking plainly from his heart and his life shows people he's means what he is saying.

And his principles are liberal, which, contrary to everything both major parties have been trying to sell us since Nixon, is where Americans are. http://www.democraticunderground.com/12777036

Nobody is flocking to him because he's an old white guy with goofy hair.

It's because he is talking about kitchen table issues to a nation that has no job security, has decreased purchasing power, has decreased wealth, and sees money flowing into the pockets of millionaires and billionaires when they are slipping ever more into poverty.

Bernie's not a rock star, he's just the person folks come closest to 'trusting' that he actually might do something to try and reverse the trend of America turning into a nation of peasants and a tiny gentry that owns almost everything.

20. Almost complete M$M blackout on Bernie's campaign events. The BLM

disrupt at the Seattle Social Security Rally has been covered some but w/o much depth. On top of this the DNC has set up only 6 debates unlike 26 in 2008, so Bernie's not receiving any real M$M media coverage like he should. It's wall to wall Trump, all still talking about the GOP clown event from last Thursday.

A few mins. ago a caller to Stephanie Millers' show on Free Speech TV brought up all this and said the DNC Chair, Debbie W-S needs to be confronted as others here have stated. After the caller Steph, who is a Clinton supporter made some comments and then went back to Trump's sexist remark to Megan Kelly at Fox last week.

I was very surprised yesterday when I tuned into 'sexy liberal' Steph Miller show on FSTV, and she was still chatting about Trump at the GOP debate last week. I thought it was a repeat show cuz she often does that. But a caller to her this morning brought all this up which I noted. If needed, I can do an OP in the BSG Re Facebook Protest BS Media blackout, but not for GD-P.

Great headline and overall, the story makes me want to do a jig. I think it's the best I've seen so far. I am going to give some phrases a smiley test.

"a raspy-voiced 73-year-old" 3 events in 3 days. Does anyone remember what Bubba, one of the youngest Presidents, sounded like when he was campaigning?

"who has become the 2016 political season's breakout star."

"self-proclaimed socialist"

"the third staggeringly large crowd in three nights"

numbers that other candidates might only dream of at this early stage in the race.

The crowd packed the Los Angeles arena and spilled into an overflow area outside, where people cheered under the palm trees

(Waaah. I wanna cheer under palm trees.)

"a bigger grassroots thing than Howard Dean," said Allen Peters, a 73-year-old doctor"

"Bernie Sanders is in a better place than Howard Dean was at this time."

"We always have to worry that Hillary and her bank buddies will knock him down."

"his speech, which drew sustained and rapturous applause and cheers when he voiced support for universal health care, legal rights for undocumented immigrants, and higher minimum wages.

There's more good stuff, but this story clearly passes the smiley test! merrily happy.

And it's from bloomberg, no less.
