Jared Fogle, former Subway spokesman, expected to plead guilty to child porn charges: report

Source: New York Daily News

It’s the end of the ride for Subway pitchman Jared Fogle.

The svelte fast food spokesman is expected to plead guilty to child pornography charges five weeks after federal investigators raided his Indiana home, an Indianapolis television station reported.

The U.S. attorney in Indianapolis was due to reveal the details at a Wednesday news conference, according to Fox59 News.

The station reported that Fogle, in a plea bargain deal, will admit to possession of child pornography.

...it still made my skin crawl to learn that he "allegedly" paid for sex with a 16 year old. I'm also not a fan of anyone who makes a "plea deal."

Former Subway spokesman Jared Fogle allegedly paid a 16-year-old girl $100 for sex, according to FBI subpoenas viewed by Business Insider.

Fogle allegedly asked the teen to advertise herself on Craigslist for sex with other men, Insider reports.

She reportedly responds to one text saying, "Is this the same website you found that 16-year-old girl that you f***ed ... I still can't believe you only paid $100 for her.''

Fogle allegedly says, "It was amazing.''

Subway management may have known about this email string since 2008. If that is the case, it does not look too good for the company.

I guess they were examining his computers?

On another topic, what is wrong with these people? This guy had it made. Did you see his house? Huge, very nice house. And then he indulges in this kind of behavior and he's none too smart about it, either.

Is unfair. Yeah I read about the website. I think the whole thing stinks that hackers can do this. Are those with accounts right? Probably not but again they are adults. Why are we getting into the bedrooms of people? I really don't want a drip drip of various names released by the media for the next year. Bedrooms should be off limits of everyone. I'd imagine that some names on the very long list of names will be some we hope not to hear about.

There is an allegation that a franchisee had supplied corporate with an e-mail string indicating that Jared had paid for sex from a 16 year old and actually pimped her out after that.

If they did know at the time and continued a business relationship with him, then they are in deep.

he allegedly ran a porn business out of his college dorm room, during the period he slimmed down by eating at Subway

he had a very compelling story about the weight, but any PI background check could have found the problems - you just have to do that when you make a person a national spokesman, because sooner or later, stuff like that WILL get out - and in this case, he was a leopard who couldn't change his spots

I've been teaching a principles of corporate advertising class for quite a few years now, and one of the sections in our text is about celebrity spokespersons. The authors write about how companies have to vet celebrity spokespersons. There was also a cost analysis of a particular case, and the financial impact of something like this is astronomical. Often, heads will roll in the advertising department.
