Jimmy 'Superfly' Snuka charged in girlfriend's 1983 death

ALLENTOWN, Pa. -- Former professional wrestling star Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka was charged Tuesday with third-degree murder and involuntary manslaughter in the death of his mistress more than three decades ago.
Prosecutors in Lehigh County announced the results of a grand jury investigation into the death of Nancy Argentino, 23, of New York.
Snuka, who had been at a World Wrestling Federation taping at the Allentown Fairgrounds, told police shortly after Argentino's death that he had returned to the couple's Whitehall Township hotel room to find her unresponsive in bed. She was pronounced dead at a hospital several hours later.
An autopsy determined she died of traumatic brain injuries and had more than three dozen cuts and bruises, and concluded her injuries were consistent with being hit with a stationary object. At the time, forensic pathologist Isidore Mihalakis wrote that the case should be investigated as a homicide until proven otherwise, according to a grand jury report released Tuesday. But the investigation went cold.

(3,051 posts)The DEA at the time said the "roid rage" science was B.S and didn't want them listed.
Never really figured out why this happened. I guess the Republicans never miss a chance to make things illegal.

(46,327 posts)Is it just a bit of common folklore?
Besides, I wouldn't trust the DEA to tell me the color of the sky, much less what drugs are "dangerous" and what are not.
I mean, they still have as their "hero," Harry Anslinger.

Basically, people who abuse steroids are similarly likely to use other drugs -- e.g., cocaine -- and, like other drug users, engage in criminal activity in general. In short, there is a correlation, but no causation.
There is a really good study where they injected 30-40 healthy, normal, men with 600mg of testosterone (a very large amount) for 12 weeks and then studied them. No increase in violence, but there was about about a 20lb gain of muscle and a 10lb loss of fat. Their cholesterol also got out of whack.
It's now like any regulatory issue. Once you have vested people whose job depends on something, it stays around forever.
Pot is the exception to this, but a good sign. We waste a lot of money incarcerating people and policing crap that does little or nothing to stop use.
(If you can't tell, I am very libertarian on drugs. I don't use them and don't care if others do. I think the exception to this would be things like Meth and Heroine, but that drug war failed, too. I became a libertarian on this after realizing what a bitch Nancy Reagan was.)
