Hamas urges 'retaliation' after death of Dawabsha mother

Source: Ma'an News

GAZA CITY (Ma'an) -- Hamas led Palestinian factions in a call for action in the wake of the death overnight Sunday of Riham Dawabsha, the mother of an 18-month-old toddler who was burned alive in an arson attack carried out by Israeli settlers in July.

The movement urged its members to "retaliate" for her death, saying in a statement: "Hamas won't forgive the usurper occupation its crime against the Dawabsha family and the population of Duma."

Riham succumbed to her wounds late Sunday more than five weeks after she suffered third degree burns across 90 percent of her body during a settler attack on her family home in the southern Nablus village of Duma.

Her 18-month old son, Ali, was killed in the attack, while her husband, Saad, succumbed to his wounds a little over a week later. She is survived only by her four-year-old son, Ahmad, who was also severely burnt.

And then all are blind.

Find and prosecute the bastards who pulled this.

But...as always...

Hamas is going to target innocents, launch more rockets, have more suicide bombers go into Israel through those tunnels they stole materials to build.

And the whole stinking mess starts over again.

6. Read the article, Israel has done NOTHING, thus how do you prevent future such attacks??

The perpetrators of the attack have still not been arrested by Israeli authorities. According to UN figures, Israeli settlers have carried out at least 142 attacks on Palestinians in occupied East Jerusalem and the West Bank since the start of this year.

More than 20 of those attacks have taken place since the attack on the Dawabsha home.
Only 1.9 percent of complaints submitted by Palestinians against Israeli settler attacks result in a conviction, the Israeli human rights group Yesh Din reported.

Thus HAMAS's statement, something has to be done and Israel has REFUSED to do anything. HAMAS has NOT said we must revenge this death, but this is Murder and who did it must be punished. You may object to HAMAS response, but it is a response do to the failure of the Israeli Government to prevent such attacks.

We can't just say "the settlers," since obviously some may be responsible, others are not.

Hence my statement about how the revenge mentality.

I've noticed many of the Israeli settlers have an insular mentality as well, no one will "rat out" the bad eggs in their ranks either.

So like I said, Hamas will declare they will get revenge, and more innocents will be killed and maimed.

12. At least have an High Israeli official show up for the funeral and say this will NOT go unpunished.

My recommendation would be the prime minster himself or his Police chief. I would insist that someone from the Israeli settlement show up and say this was a crime. The problem is no one in the Israeli Government wants to admit this is a crime, let alone that an Israeli did it.

It makes me weary just thinking about it. I can't imagine what it must be like actually living through it.

to paraphrase a discussion I heard led by Norm Finkelstein, it's not a question of retaliation because there is such power asymmetry. It is now a question of how to die with dignity.

In any case, let's hope there is no retaliation and let's hope there are no more attacks like this one.

10. well, why would the Price Tag terrorists stop this kind of attack?

The Israeli government isn't going to punish them, or even inconvenience them as punishment.

And, the usual suspects will swallow the conspiracy theory that it was really Arabs who did it.
