Summer sizzles to hottest on record worldwide

Source: USA Today

If you sweated out the summer, you weren't alone.

The months of June, July and August were the planet's hottest on record, according to a report released Thursday by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. This year remains on track to beat the hottest on the books worldwide, crushing 136 years of records.

“The world is dominated by areas that are record warm or more than average right now,” said NOAA climate scientist Deke Arndt. “The warmth has truly been widespread across the oceans and land.”

From January to August, global temperatures soared 1.51 degrees above average. Six of those months hit record highs. Countries in the Middle East suffered a stifling heat wave this summer, with Iran soaring to a heat index of 163 degrees in July.

weather forecasts and replace them with prayercasts. And the Weather Channel? Well, they've turned into the useless History Channel or ridiculous Learning Channel already. All the Weather Channel doom-&-gloom disaster shows have replaced weather reports.

We may be getting beyond just warming. We may be heating. And the GOP is determined to forbid any efforts to address the issue. They will silence ANYONE with another view.

More than one even admitted the climate is changing! But they all agreed we shouldn't do anything about it. Because China.

They said any idea of taking action on climate change is just a left-wing government power-grab. So, leave Exxon alone and let them continue business as usual. Drill, baby, drill.

I can't stand it when it goes above 75 degrees, I can't imagine how anyone would deal with temps of 163! I think I would shoot myself.
