Scott Walker quits the 2016 presidential race
Source: New York Times
Short of support and cash, Gov. Scott Walker of Wisconsin, saying he had been called to lead by helping to clear the field, announced Monday that he was suspending his bid for the Republican presidential nomination.
Mr. Walkers withdrawal is a humiliating climb down for a Republican governor once seen as leading a charmed political life

He figures that if he hangs on, he can pick up some of the followers from the failed campaigns.
Then if Trump implodes, he's the right bigmouth to grab the base.

(10,857 posts)... it will be one bloody, knife-scarred clown by the time all this bullshit is over, so damned long from now. So much money and time spent savaging their own side and, by extension, the potential voters who supported everyone else but the clown who wins.
For example, Jeb! is never going to outrun the "low energy" tag, which is just another euphemism for "stupid." That didn't hurt his brother, but then his brother only needed to get close enough to steal it. Not sure that's true for this one.

(8,203 posts)screen - to make Jebbie look the sane one...reminds me of the VP selection process by cheezy - and then he picks himself....which was the plan ....
The foreign policy advisors for jebbie - when they were announced some time ago - that was the first hint...they are all GWBs advisors...now that scares me -
As well, the new Ads by the US Army uncle Sam is making another call....scary chit indeed.....

(35,619 posts)"The way to measure success in government is by how many people are no longer dependent on the government." - Scott Walker tonight

A country with no government and mass deprivation is a success by Walker's measure since no one there is dependent on government.
By contrast, Bernie Sanders implies that the purpose of government is "making sure that all of our people have healthcare as a right, education as a right, housing as a right, childcare as a right."

Detest him and others who play that anti-government game while he/they live off the government as a career.
Glad he is out. Now to get him out of WI and career politics.

(10,857 posts)Nobody knows or gives a shit about Carly Fiorina, and if they do the one thing they remember his how she destroyed Hewlett-Packard. She's an absolutely awful candidate on the surface and worse the closer one looks, and yet CNN has pushed her into the top 3, apparently so Trump can be more of a chauvinist in public.
The reason, I think, is that the field is crowded beyond easy comprehension for voters who don't comprehend anything easily, so the front-runners are being chosen by news media outlets through the amount of exposure they give to the candidates.
That's why Jeb! will never be completely out of it, and will always in a position to steal it all, because the evil people who control him made a point of gaining control over American news media FIRST.

(58,724 posts)It all seems like a game or a reality show as far as the punditry is concerned.
There is way more time spent discussing who is where in the polls than the actual policy positions of the candidates.

(9,999 posts)The problem with their logic is that you need to back the right candidate. You can wrap a turd in silk but all you end up with is the same turd and wasted silk. Except for the Teabaggers and a few die hard Repukes, most Americans do not want a candidate that follows their agenda. So far, I think they have thrown their money at losers and I can only hope they continue to waste their money on candidates that will not win. I get enjoyment at watching them throw their money down the rabbit hole.

He will be the compromise struck between the teapot crowd and the party machine. The party wants Jeb but the masses and the teabags want nothing to do with him, instead they want Trump or Cruz. They'll meet in the middle with Rubio, who happens to be also on the Koch's good list.

(3,384 posts)So... other GOP candidates think Trump will be bad for the country (bad for their party in reality) .
But, Trump is the front-runner because he encapsulates modern-day Republicanism:
Worship of money.
Racism.
Misogyny.
Reckless speech.
'You're in my way' mentality.
Rhetoric.
No solid plan in sight other than 'build a wall' and bomb first, ask questions later.
Guns in every hand will make America great again.
Corporations rule.
The poor can pay for their own education and health care because that will help the country and economy in the long run.
Trump is sitting in the driver's seat of the out-of-control GOP clown car.
What's not to like if you want the other party to win?
If you think that he's not fit to be POTUS then WHY is the GOP front-runner?
I think we all know the answer to that last one. See list above.
