Senate passes bill to avert government shutdown, sends to House
Source: Reuters
The U.S. Senate on Wednesday passed legislation to keep the federal government operating just hours before agency funding runs out with the start of a new fiscal year on Thursday.
The measure, passed by a wide margin, next goes to the U.S. House of Representatives, which is expected to take it up promptly so that President Barack Obama can sign it into law before a midnight deadline.
Under the bill, a range of government activities would be funded at current levels until Dec. 11, giving congressional negotiators and Obama more time to work out a budget deal at least for the rest of the 2016 fiscal year ending next Sept. 30.

That is less than 75 days away knowing full well that these congressional representatives will be using the Christmas vacation as tool, so that they can gut and cut more programs while they are at home eating ham and turkey making there pay checks off the backs of the same people, that are just wondering if they are going to attack Social Security yet again and other social programs.
The days of having long term funding is placing this country at risk every time they pull these shenanigans -----------------I don't know about you, but I really am tired of republican austerity cuts and any DINO that supports this stuff.
Look no further than Delaney D(MD) and Cole R (OK) are prime examples of this stuff, this is a perfect vehicle for them to attack social security prior to Dec. 11, 2015

Stopgap funding bill clears main hurdle in House
WASHINGTON
A bill to temporarily fund the U.S. government and avoid agency shutdowns beginning on Thursday cleared a key procedural hurdle in the House of Representatives, which is expected to pass the legislation later on Wednesday.
By a vote of 239-187, the House agreed to the rules for debating the bill to fund the government between Oct. 1, the start of the new fiscal year, and Dec. 11.
The Senate already has passed the legislation and the House is expected soon to do the same, sending it to President Barack Obama to sign into law before a midnight deadline.
