Obama administration’s new fracking rules blocked by U.S. judge in Wyoming
Source: Houston Chronicle
New federal fracking regulations were blocked by a U.S. judge in Wyoming who said the governments Bureau of Land Management lacks the authority to control hydraulic fracturing.
The ruling by U.S. District Judge Scott Skavdahl puts on hold the most closely-watched effort by the Obama administration to ensure that fracking doesnt contaminate water supplies. While the rules apply only on federal lands, they are designed to spur states to toughen their safety protections as well.
Skavdahl had issued a provisional order putting the regulations on hold on June 23, the day before they were scheduled to take effect. His decision comes in a pair of lawsuits, one pursued by the states of Wyoming, North Dakota, Colorado and Utah, and another by the Independent Petroleum Association of America and the Western Energy Alliance.
They argued that the regulations duplicated state rules and increased costs of extracting resources from oil-rich shale formations in the U.S.

(24,701 posts)the Equality State--------------let's say this again the "Equality State" what a misnomer------------for whom?
I am so glad, I left that right to work for less state, between Dick Cheney flying over in his oil company helicopter, or the cattleman's association, and now the oil and gas in the courts system, ------------
Where Dick Cheney gets to go fishing in the Grand Teton's and then goes on CBS Face Dick Nation, or Meet the war criminal Press or any of the MSM to sell his new corrupt book with his daughter , and then murders over 4,685 humans (some of them Wyomingites).
Then have the same court's in the "Equality State" say that if you are with Greenpeace, or some environmental organization or just a plain old citizens, trying to find out what is happening to the high desert country water, by getting samples you can go to jail, welcome to the "Equality State" .
