Migrants break into Channel Tunnel as tension mounts in Calais

Source: Reuters

About 200 migrants broke into the Channel Tunnel from France while several hundred others held up lorries near Calais port on Saturday in renewed tension on the route for migrants trying to reach Britain.

Scores of migrants forced their way into Eurotunnel's French terminal overnight, clashing with staff and police and causing a temporary suspension of rail services, Eurotunnel (GETP.PA) said.

The company said traffic levels in the tunnel were back to normal later on Saturday following safety checks, though passenger services were expected to run with delays of up to two hours for the rest of the day.

Roughly 200 migrants entered Eurotunnel's terminal after midnight by pulling down fencing, with 120 getting into the tunnel before being intercepted inside by French police, the company and police said.

governments are going to sour on helping them, and the crackdown on them is going to be brutal.

They hunker down in tent and tar-paper shack camps while stuck at the entrance to Britain.

They are free to claim asylum in France, a safe, democratic, western, first world country.

They do not have a right to asylum shop or illegally enter Britain, and if not actual refugees (i.e., they are economic migrants), they could be expelled.

The article I read (not this one) didn't even mention where they were from. It left one to wonder whether that was connected to the Syrian refugee crisis or not. Very piss poor reporting.
