Sanders Draws Big Crowds in Mass. Campaign Swing
Source: Boston Globe
It was the third-largest rally Sanders has held this year, smaller only than events in Portland, Ore., and Los Angeles in August. To put it in context, the number of people who showed up to see Sanders at the convention center was nearly three times the population of Montpelier, the capital of the US senators home state of Vermont. <snip>
Sanders addressed a near-capacity crowd of 20,000 at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center, with a few thousand more in an overflow room. Hoping to secure a good spot at the event, people formed a line that stretched a half-mile down Summer Street, nearly reaching South Station two hours before the event began. <snip>
Now leading in presidential polls among Democrats in Iowa and New Hampshire, Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders made a swing through Massachusetts Saturday in hopes of gaining donors and building a political infrastructure that will help his campaign a month after the first two states vote.

(1 post)The article says that Bernie is leading in New Hampshire and Iowa. While Iowa is close, he only leads in NH. Truth is truth

CBS/youGov
Bernie 43%
Clinton 33%
Quinnipiac
Bernie 41%
Clinton 40%
She definitely leads in several polls as well in the same timeframe, but neither can claim 100% of the polls

(17,796 posts)but I keep wondering why a "near-capacity crowd" needs an overflow room?
Fearless
(18,421 posts)As you can't see over the set up. So if the capacity is 22000 and 20000 are inside.... Near capacity. I dunno, my guess.

(15,435 posts)Or should I say when will TPTB STOP ignoring him? LOOK at the audience and while you don't see many AA's I truly feel that given time those numbers are going to grow.
I see many young people, but I'm seeing that he's gaining ground with people who AREN'T white! I don't think I've ever felt so strongly about my support for a candidate. He's not perfect but none of the other candidates are either. I feel he's talking to me and millions of others about his beliefs and NOT just making comments that sound hollow when others say them. Not going along to get along!
