Walker: New Data Says Wisconsin Gained Jobs In 2011

Source: TPM

So did Wisconsin lose jobs, or gain them, in 2011? The answer could make a huge difference in the June 5 recall election of Republican Gov. Scott Walker. The Walker administration is now touting a new set of numbers to assert that Walker has actually been creating jobs, in spite of separate data that says otherwise.

Walker has been facing questions about a promise he made in 2010 to create 250,000 private-sector jobs during his first term. The monthly surveys from the federal Bureau of Labor Statistics have indicated that the state lost 9,700 private-sector jobs, and 33,900 jobs total, through 2011.

On Wednesday, the Walker administration issued a new set of numbers — based on a separate measuring method that they say is superior — to show that Wisconsin actually created over 23,321 private and public jobs in 2011, a difference of 57,221.

At issue are two different sets of measurements: the Current Employment Survey, and the Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages.

All you really need to do to undermine the opposition is cultivate uncertainty.

Works well enough, anyway.

After the election, it won't matter how many articles, news reports, or books come out exposing the sleazy, dishonest tactics used by the Right to make sure Walker stayed in power. The Right is utterly shameless, and once it's over, nobody will give a shit over the tactics they used to stay in power.

The powers behind Walker have 20 more days to blanket Wisconsin with FUD and baldfaced lies- and they will.

6. My guess, and it's just a guess, is that Walker's count will include 'work therapy' jobs

for prisoners and veterans.

You know, those jobs? The ones that Congress says are ok to pay $1.45 per hour?

Having been trained in a fine Jesuit Institution (really Marguette is a pretty ok school), Walker understands that truth is mere truthiness.

While there Walker, son of a Baptist minister, had a life-changing ephiphany that neither the Jesuits nor his parents anticipated...

Walker realized that the Bible ACTUALLY says nothing directly about campaign honesty in a democracy.

don't represent the modern day Christians. Heil Walker is an asshole but he has enindated the airwaves with lying commericals which have been provided by hateful 1% persons and corporations who want total contol over WI and the rest of the country.

I spoke with some people today and they essentially said "well if WI is that dumb" than they deserve what they get.

That said, I believe the race will tighten and the Dem will win it!

"This involves a more thorough review from 96 percent of the state’s businesses, taken from the tax reports of businesses that pay state or federal unemployment insurance, to map out concrete data."

Given that employers routinely object to terminated employees receiving unemployment, I assume they must pay more unemployment insurance when their former employees collect. So if they are paying less, their employees must be making more. Right?

Except that every state bordering Wisconsin has gained jobs. I know for a fact that lots of Wisconsites work in Illinois. I imagine the same may occur for other states as well.

Which means Walker is taking credit for his constituents finding jobs out of state.

I can't see the recall effort succeeding...If he wins by 6-10pts I don't see Obama carrying the state either. This is not good at all.

I was under the impression Walker was hated in WI until I checked the polls for myself & found the opposite is true (50% approval rating as well)...I know what folks say about polls but a 6pt lead that is expanding is BIG & with just a few weeks to go things do not look good.

I realize the Kochsuckers are outspending the Dems 25 to 1, but as the Daily Mirror said back in 2004, how can these people be so stupid?
