More than 7,000 people at Prestonwood Baptist Church for presidential forum

Source: Dallas Morning News

Update: 6:54 p.m.

Prestonwood Pastor Jack Graham just took a swipe at Donald Trump. In his interview with Jeb Bush, he stopped his questions to praise former President George W. Bush.

Trump recently pointed out that the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001 occurred under the former president’s watch.

“George W. Bush did keep us safe, no matter what anybody says,” Graham said. “You should be held accountable for ridiculous statements.”

Update: 5:14 p.m.

Mike Huckabee, a minister, is speaking about the “assault” on religious freedoms.

non-profit, 501c3 rules, something? It is just so wrong on so many levels.
We watched this mega-complex being built. For the longest time we had no idea what it was. We worked at a company nearby and drove past construction site on most lunch breaks. It looked like a giant airport hanger.
Long history with Prestonwood. My wife's brothers went there. She went there occasionally. Very sad......

9. Church is not a place for political speeches

Beginning in the '80s, callous politicians began using churches to mobilize the faithful to their religious right. That movement has been a disaster for the nation, and for the evangelical faith. People, especially the young, disgusted by the hypocrisy they've witnessed in "righteous" politicians, have left the church. Those churches who have political speakers like Huckabee who gets $20,000 per speech, are according to the IRS law, supposed to allow time for his counterpart, someone from the other party. I wish the IRS would crack down on those churches and remove their tax free status. But more importantly, houses of worship should be just that--a place where we find the presence of God. In this challenging, frenetic world, we need sanctuaries.
