Canada withdrawing fighter jets from Iraq, Syria, Trudeau tells Obama
Source: AFP
Ottawa (AFP) - Canada's prime minister-elect Justin Trudeau said Tuesday he told US President Barack Obama that Canadian fighter jets would withdraw from fighting the Islamic State group in Iraq and Syria.
But he gave no timeline.
"About an hour ago I spoke with President Obama," Trudeau told a press conference.
While Canada remains "a strong member of the coalition against ISIL," Trudeau said he made clear to the US leader "the commitments I have made around ending the combat mission."

(22,651 posts)Plenty of the same shale/tar-sands in Utah and that state has leased up/ 20 year leases! through our DOI, thousands of acres of our public lands for Tar Sands 'mining' and processing.
The only saving grace is the much lower price of, much better quality crude oil. Its expensive and dirty to get the oil out of shale and sand.
Utah has more (shale) oil than the entire of Saudi Arabia google that and see for yourself.

(9,688 posts)The election was only yesterday, Trudeau hasn't had time to put his pants on yet. He won't be sworn in for awhile - tho' I hear rumors it'll be sometime before mid November. He hasn't even assembled a cabinet yet, or taken stock of the talent available.
This tweet doesn't ring true.

Better to accept reality, give "asylum" to those "moderate" rebels we supported...no..on second thought, let Saudi Arabia do that....no...on third thought, that still has come back to bite on the ass...shit...hell if I know what to do for them. The moderates with means fled to Europe...the ones still there, God help them.
We need to come to terms with this and accept Assad is not going to be found in a sewer like Quadaffi. Negotiate a peace and be done with it.
