Joe Biden changes story on Osama bin Laden raid

Source: CNN.com

Washington (CNN)Vice President Joe Biden offered an account Tuesday of the decision to launch the raid that killed Osama bin Laden that differed from some of his previous retellings -- and from Hillary Clinton's.

His remarks come as he considers facing off against the former secretary of state in the 2016 presidential race, and they seem to signal that he sees his earlier stance on the raid as a potential liability.

Well here is a link of war hardened Hillary dodging sniper fire in Bosnia.... If Joe isn't careful she will start claiming she orchestrated the raid herself.

wait, I know, another opportunity to try to incite a bashing Hillary thread outside the General Discussion : Primary group.

Why don't you start your own thread in GD: Primary Group if you want to talk about that

Vice President Joe Biden confessed this weekend that he advised President Obama not to launch the mission that ultimately killed Osama bin Laden last spring.

During remarks at a Democratic congressional retreat this weekend, Biden explained that when it came time to make the final decision, he had some lingering uncertainties about whether the 9/11 mastermind was in the suspected compound in Pakistan.

When the president asked his top advisers for their final opinion on the mission, all of them were hesitant, except for the former CIA director, now Defense Secretary Leon Panetta, Biden said.

"Every single person in that room hedged their bet except Leon Panetta. Leon said go. Everyone else said, 49, 51," Biden said, as he offered the unsolicited details of the decision-making process.

"He got to me. He said, 'Joe, what do you think?' And I said, 'You know, I didn't know we had so many economists around the table.' I said, 'We owe the man a direct answer. Mr. President, my suggestion is, don't go. We have to do two more things to see if he's there,'" Biden recalled.

While the vice president did not explain what those two more things were, the next morning the president gave National Security Adviser Tom Donilon the "go" to launch the SEAL raid of the compound.

not talking about this issue. He has enough issues from the bankruptcy bill, the crime bill, his coziness with the financial industry, and of course his treatment of Anita Hill during the Clarence Thomas hearings, which won't help him very much with the gender vote, among other things

Wonder what his position on the TPP is, and if he will go against the Obama administration on that?

He can't stop himself. The VP gives him the leg-up that he has never had in his past runs (losses). He can't pass it up.

some of that baggage through an edit in my original post to you.

We will see how things transpire, but I don't see him taking away any meaningful support from Hillary and her fund raisers, nor do I see grass roots Bernie supporters jumping on board with him either

stupid she will bring this Biden bin laden "controversy" though. In that case it would turn into another Trump/bush feud on 9/11, when bush thought it important to defend his brother on 9/11, and Trump jumped on that in a New York minute, and now that is the only thing Jeb Bush is talking about. In fact unless he can change that talking point, he is toast.

When I saw your headline, I came to this thread to post just that. But you arrived at the same conclusion as it seems others have. Why would he bother to start "correcting" the record if that were not the case? And don't get me wrong, I like Joe Biden, I am just not in sync with some of his positions, especially the "I am no populist" position.

I think things like this reinforce my support for Sanders and unwillingness to even consider supporting Biden. As much as I like him, I think he's making a big mistake.
