FBI Says It's Officially Investigating The California Mass Shooting As An Act Of Terrorism

Source: Associated Press

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. --
The FBI says due to evidence that has been gathered they are now investigating the San Bernardino attack as an act of terrorism.

The woman who carried out the San Bernardino massacre with her husband had pledged allegiance to the Islamic State group and its leader on Facebook, a U.S. law enforcement official said Friday, providing the strongest evidence to date that the rampage may have been an extremist attack.

The official said Tashfeen Malik made her posts under an alias and deleted them before she and Syed Farook killed 14 people Wednesday at a holiday party for his co-workers. The Muslim couple were killed hours later in a fierce gunbattle with police.

Malik, 27, was a Pakistani who grew up in Saudi Arabia and came to the U.S. in 2014 on a fiance visa. Farook, a 28-year-old restaurant health inspector for the county, was born in Chicago to Pakistani parents and raised in Southern California.

working, with a child, who one day become criminals. The reasons to be determined.

If we could answer how Christians in this country can twist their bible into something that tells them to bomb little children, murder pregnant women and those helping them - in other words, the very same problem, but home grown - maybe we could understand this better.

The new normal.

The group may have had a different name if we had not invaded Iraq, but the core beliefs and grievances go back nearly 1400 years.

More recently, you can credit the founding of the Muslim Brotherhood, the founding of modern Israel, and the decadence of secular leaders, such as Saddam Hussein as other major spurs.

Yes, Bushco acted hastily and stupidly. People should have went to jail, not on TV. But we NEED to understand the entire picture if we want to deal with Islamic Terrorism effectively and humanely.

We still do not know what the motivations of these individuals were. It could turn out to be a combination of different things. The individuals might have been planning a terrorist act somewhere else and then decided at the last minute to attack this guy's workplace. Okay, so is it a terrorist act or is it work place violence if that is the case? Hmm? To quote Hillary Clinton, "What difference does it make?" Seriously. How does reveling in the fact that somebody got it wrong help to solve the problem? Answer: it doesn't.

President. Do we need reminding that he has not yet won a single primary or caucus? Trump will not get the Republican nomination. He MIGHT get enough delegates to deny anyone else the nomination, in which case there would be a multiple ballots - a brokered convention. Trump would not win a brokered convention. Jeb Bush might. Even Mitt Romney might. But Trump definitely would not. The Republican Party would basically implode at that point. Which it would also do IF Trump were to somehow get the nomination. The latter implosion would be worse, however, because Trump would get wiped out by Clinton and also take the Republican Senate with him as well as some Republican Congressional seats.

but there is no doubt that the estab. gop does NOT want trump as the nom.

if he gets a lot of delegates through votes, and the PTB basically conspire to take it away for a romney, it is going to be one unholy mess

i do like the idea of him losing seats, but i don't have much faith in voters, esp after california.

the idea of trump stomping around accusing the gop of stealing his nomination does make me smile, though

What exactly? California has some of the strongest gun safety laws. California requires a waiting period and background checks. The guy purchasing them legally was not on any radar when buying the guns, so do we want to ask our Democratic Congressional reps to go further, what exactly? How about the only true method of ending gun violence, lets confiscate all firearms and ban the sale of them nationwide.... Will that work? How many congressional seats will we lose defending those standards? No one can articulate a reasonable gun control measure that would have stopped any of these senseless terror attacks. If enough is really enough the American people will ask for a repeal of the 2nd amendment..... However, it appears that the meme on this latest terror attack will become Obama is letting terrorists come to America and kill us and he has the nerve to ask us to give up our ability to protect ourselves.... will you be a sitting duck for the liberals gun suicide?

So we rant....

I am a supporter of the 2nd amendment. I'm also a citizen who believes that the safety of my family, friends, co-workers, occasional acquaintances, and even total strangers... is more important than the 2nd amendment.

I certainly don't have the answer. I'd go even further than that by saying that few, if any, on DU have the answer - based on what I've read. My point was that serious discussion must begin on the subject of gun control or nothing will be done to stop all of the gun violence in America. Doing nothing will lead to continued gun violence.

If, by labeling the event in California as a terrorist attack starts the discussion, I'm all for it being labeled a terrorist attack. Arguing the extreme sides of the issue will not bring us together. We need to begin a grown-up, adult, discussion on the subject.

It's as if they were planning an attack, but not the one they carried out. Perhaps they were told by their IS handler that the bigger plan was taking too long to put into action and to just attack any any random target so as to create a headline. In the end, it accomplished IS' propaganda aims just the same.
