'Scarface' actor Robert Loggia dies at 85
Source: latimes.com
Robert Loggia, who played drug lords and mobsters and danced with Tom Hanks in "Big," has died, his wife Aubrey Loggia says.
Aubrey Loggia said Loggia died Friday at his home in Los Angeles after a five year battle with Alzheimer's. He was 85.
Loggia's rugged looks and voice suited his many character roles as gangsters or other shady characters. He was a Miami drug lord in "Scarface" and a Sicilian mobster in "Prizzi's Honor." He earned an Oscar nomination for the 1985 legal thriller, "Jagged Edge."

(5,400 posts)Christopher made a movie that was eerily similar. And it had some Sopranos people in it.
And if you liked that movie, try to find The Addiction. More The Sopranos stars, and a guest star, in that. Christopher Walken is stellar in the few minutes he's on screen.
It's like a New York City scene kind of movie by Abel Ferrara.
Lol, huh ...

(53,235 posts)horror movie fan. It was an odd horror movie, very New Yorky. I liked it until the end (because I don't like horror).

(3,568 posts)and I just absolutely HATE tailgaters. Robert Loggia was perfect in this. Terrifyingly funny. What a great character actor he was. One of a kind and always fun to watch.
I was thinking of putting this up myself but you saved me the trouble. Thanks! I first saw this when Redqueen posted it several years ago. It always makes me laugh.

(5,400 posts)I guess he represents the type of character that can just pop up in your dream, a creature acting with its own logic.

(29,414 posts)What comes to mind first for me is Big. I would think with that famous scene of him dancing on the electronic keyboard with Tom Hanks would be the one they'd associate with him instead. Then again, I've always liked it when tough guys step out of that role to do something endearing. He will be missed.

(53,410 posts)He had presence. Gravitas. Whatever was necessary for the part he played.
I'm very sorry to learn he had alzheimers. My mom had it for 5 years before she died of cancer. There aren't words to describe how horrible that disease is. Thankfully, after a certain point it isn't bad for the people who have it, but for the families it's a major life destroying thing.
