If we watch the Crocodile Dundee video excerpt in reply #5, Politicalboi shows us how if you have a superior blade, there's nothing to dealing with a violent criminal. The romantic hero is cool, suave and save's his date, all without breaking a sweat or loosing his good humor. Only the bad guy's jacket and pride are injured. Looks easy! All we need is to be the guy with a bigger knife, right?

OK, now follow the link in the OP "Leystone stabbing: Gruesome video..." and watch the video about the station attack. Did you notice the 2 ft diameter puddle of blood on the floor? The donor of that blood did not win the girl, did not have a charming transit thru the station.

So how do we deal with the fear and discomfort of horrific events?
Distract with escapism: portray it as an opportunity for romance and comedy.
Arm ourselves, cuz the bigger blade/bigger magazine will let us escape from injury.

Imagine Crocodile Dundee and his date are attending the company party at San Bernardino. When the crazed killers start shooting, Dundee pulls an appropriately accurate pistol out of his leather coat and dispatches the terrorists.

Now, in your imagined scenario, how many innocent party attendees get shot before Dundee triumphs with lethal action? How many puddles of blood are on the floor? Do you think those donors would be heartened that Croc won her heart?

Are you the type who imagine you are Crocodile Dundee and your gun will protect you and the one's you love? Everyman can/should be a Dundee, so no worries and no puddles?

My point is that both distraction and escapism are unhealthy ways of dealing with our violent culture. Why does the mis-labeling a deadly weapon, whether machete, Bowie knife, or switch blade require comment in this thread? I don't see the humor or utility of this reply?

Is the speaker Muslim himself?
Why do they say ain't if it's not the American South?

I am confused!

"ain't" was in use in England by the 1700s - before most (if not all) of
