Nearly six in 10 Americans — 58 percent — now think abortion should be legal in most or all cases, up from 51 percent who said so at the beginning of the year. The survey was conducted after three people were killed last month in a shooting at a Planned Parenthood clinic in Colorado.

1. True. Most Americans are pro-choice. And most Americans think marijuana should be legal, as well.

It would be nice if our politicians would represent the views of the majority, wouldn't it?

Basically the minute someone tries to use "God" as an argument, I realize I there's not much point in continuing with them.

but as is often the case, those who scream the loudest, and cause the most scuffles, get the headlines.

A very small number of pro-lifers clamor loudly enough that we all have to hear it.

4. Only a little different, most of the polls I've seen have women more pro-choice by a few

more percentage points than men; but in some years men are a bit more pro-choice. Though a substantial gap has opened up in the last few years -- 54% to 46% in the 2015 poll (see graph).

Before 2012, it was pretty close to even.

I've seen other polling results, including many different variations of the questions asked, with the results that women are a little more pro-choice than men, but not by all that much. I don't know where the meme got started that almost all women are prochoice while almost all men are anti-choice, as there has never been any evidence of that.

taken all together didn't hurt but helped. I hope this isn't a temporary blip because of sympathy for PP because of the shootings, which will inevitably fade from memory.
