KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Reuters) - A man who admitted spray-painting graffiti on the exterior walls of an Islamic center in Missouri in 2011 and leaving two burned copies of the Koran outside it pleaded guilty on Tuesday to a federal civil rights charge, prosecutors said.
Adam David Smock, 23, a former Springfield, Missouri, resident who lives in California was charged with participating in a conspiracy to oppress, threaten and intimidate worshippers at the Islamic Center of Springfield, prosecutors said.
Smock pleaded guilty before U.S. Magistrate Judge David Rush under a plea deal in which prosecutors recommended 14 days in jail, followed by five years supervised release, 40 hours of community service and $10,440 restitution, prosecutors said.
According to prosecutors, Smock spray-painted offensive words on the Islamic Center's outer walls in January 2011 with two other persons, including, "You bash us in Pakistan we bash here."

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – A former Missouri man has admitted to helping deface the Islamic Center of Springfield and to burning two copies of the Quran.
Adam David Smock, now of Edgewater, California, pleaded guilty Tuesday to participating in a conspiracy to intimidate members of the Islamic Center.
He admitted that he and two other people spray-painted graffiti on the center In January 2011.
The same three people also burned two copies of the Quran in April 2011 and left them in front of the Islamic Center, with a note that included the words “Death to Islam.”

A California man pleaded guilty Tuesday to vandalizing a Missouri Islamic Center and burning two Quarans. Now he’ll face fines, jail time, and have to apologize in person to the Muslim leaders of the center.
Adam Smock, 23, admitted in the plea agreement that on two occasions, once in January of 2011 and once in April of the same year, he and two other people vandalized the center. The trio sprayed graffiti on the Islamic Center of Springfield, and burned two copies of the Quran and left the charred copies in front of the Islamic Center. The total cost of the damage was $15,662. One of his fellow vandals was 14-years-old.

They also left a note at the Islamic Center typed on computer paper:
“To: Sincere Followers of Allah,
“Today, we show the Muslim Nation that its oppressive religion won’t go without a fight, not from soldiers, but from average citizens willing to fight for America – for there are three (sic) burned Qur’ans that lay spread in the driveway. For we grow tired of Anti-Zionism. The Islamification of Europe. Terroristic regimes. And worst of all, the membership of 1.5 billion Muslims that stain the earth. And we vow one thing: Islam will not survive.
“Death to Islam!”
