Iranian Protesters Storm Saudi Consulate in Mashad After Execution of Shi'ite Cleric
Source: Haaretz
Iranian protesters stormed the Saudi Arabian consulate in Mashad Saturday night, hours after Saudi Arabia executed Nimr al-Nimr, a prominent Shi'ite Muslim cleric, and 46 other prisoners.
Pictures circulating on social media show protesters scaling the consulate fence and taking down the Saudi flag.
Saudi Arabia executed Nimr alongside dozens of Al-Qaida members on Saturday, signaling intolerance of jihadism and minority Shi'ite Muslim violence while stirring a rise in sectarian tensions across the region.
Lebanon's Supreme Islamic Shi'ite Council called Nimr's execution a "grave mistake", and the Hezbollah group termed it an assassination as Shi'ites took to the streets in protest from Tehran to Kashmir.

(72 posts)It's not outside the realm of possibility that Iran's proxies (e.g., Hezbollah) could punish the Saudi regime in retaliation by, for example, attacking Saudi Arabia's petroleum infrastructure.
A terrorist attack on the oil industry alone would be enough to drive up prices but an attack that reduces the supply (when oversupply is what drives prices down) could cause oil to spike.
