Rupert Murdoch Encourages Bloomberg 2016 Presidential Run

Fox News may be at odds with one billionaire New Yorker running for president, but its owner, Rupert Murdoch, is urging another to join the fray. The News Corp founder and publishing tycoon on Wednesday egged on the White House ambitions of former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, a financial magnate who is considering an independent bid for president. This is Bloombergs last chance, Murdoch tweeted. You never know until your hat is in the ring! Events change everything, especially during elections.
Bloomberg has publicly toyed with a presidential run in the past, and has concluded he would not win. But the unpredictable 2016 election in which fellow billionaire Donald Trump, a boorish former reality-show star and political novice, has consistently led a super-sized GOP field of experienced politicians has the former mayor seriously considering jumping into the race. According to a New York Times report, Bloomberg has indicated he would pour $1 billion of his own money into a campaign, and has set a March deadline to decide.
Experts believe Bloomberg would be most likely to run under one of three scenarios: If Trump, currently making headlines for his refusal to participate in Thursdays GOP debate on Fox News, or Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, a tea party favorite loathed by the Republican establishment, were to win the nomination; or if Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, a self-described Democratic Socialist, defeated front-runner Hillary Clinton to become the Democrats pick.
Murdoch has weighed in on a potential Bloomberg run before, urging him to enter the race in August as it became clearer Trumps candidacy wasnt a publicity stunt. If he were to run, analysts say, Bloomberg would be the longest of shots: no third-party candidate has ever won the White House. But his former membership in both major parties and his liberal views on gun control and abortion rights, balanced by his business acumen might appeal to a centrist majority if the party nominees were seen as extremists.

The vast majority of Saudi control over western corporations is indirect ownership through cross-investment and shell corporations registered in third countries. This makes Saudi political donations and foreign influence operations harder to trace.

(1,113 posts)... I like the idea of Bernie vs. the Billionaires, I think maybe it would be easier for everybody at this point to just SCRAP THE ELECTION altogether, and appoint Bloomberg, Murdoch and Trump as a triumvirate.
