Sanders won’t give previously advertised foreign policy speech before Iowa caucuses, aide says

By John Wagner January 29 at 11:57 AM

BURLINGTON, Iowa — With time running out before Monday’s Iowa caucuses, an aide confirmed Friday that presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders has no plans to deliver a previously advertised speech on foreign policy before the first votes are cast in the Democratic race.

In early December, the Vermont senator told The Washington Post that he planned to give a major address on foreign policy in Iowa. At the time, Sanders was facing questions about why a campaign message dominated by domestic policy had not broadened more in the wake of terrorist-inspired attacks in Paris and San Bernardino, Calif.

On Friday, Sanders communications director Michael Briggs said no speech is planned, adding that Sanders has spoken extensively in recent weeks about foreign policy, including during a breakfast with reporters Thursday in Des Moines hosted by Bloomberg Politics.
......................

Sanders’s stump speeches continue to be heavily focused on domestic issues, particularly economic policy. As often as not, he does not go into any detail on international affairs unless an audience member asks him a question on the subject.

IMHO

Believe it or not, I still have not completely made up my mind - and therefore could be persuaded - who to vote for. There are many of us.

"Won't rush into a war with Iran like Hillary Clinton would" is enough for me.

Though I would like him to propose keeping Kerry on as Secretary of State. Maybe his successes are more noticeable because of the horrible job Hillary Clinton did in that position, but he seems to be doing a great job!

The guy is so one note. Economic justice this. Social justice that. Healthcare for everyone.

How can he focus on American citizens when we have so many undropped bombs that are nearing their expiration date?

At least not as much as the GOP and Hillarians are. Too bad so sad.

first term directed towards domestic issues. There are far too many. Not to shut ourselves off from the world but there is so much shit to get in order within our nation. It seems like Bernie feels the same way - thank the heavens.

Crises erupt, and Presidents need solutions. Bernie has no foreign policy. Bernie will have no first term, or any other term.

His total lack of experience in the field will be exposed just like his health care plan. I'm still reeling from the five thousand more in taxes he wants us to pay. Sooner or later he will have to face his lack of experience.

If you only use the vet to put animals to sleep. Because that is what corporate media has been trying to do to Bernie since day one, first by ignoring him completely and now by trying to eviscerate his every proposal and campaign move.
