Indonesia's Defence Minister threatens 'warfare' against 'threatening' gay community

Source: Abc

Ministers and religious leaders have denounced homosexuality, blocked lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) websites and emboldened hardliners launching anti-gay raids.

When a minister criticised counselling services for gay students at a university last month, it triggered a heated media debate and was the start of what activists say has been a sustained assault on gay rights.

The Government has shut down a slew of websites, ordered TV programs depicting gay lives off the air and demanded all instant messaging apps remove same-sex emoticons — like men holding hands and the symbolic rainbow flag — or face a ban.

Hardline Defence Minister Ryamizard Ryacudu this week labelled the influence of the gay community "a threat" and said fighting it was akin to "a kind of modern warfare".

"It's dangerous as we can't see who our foes are, but out of the blue everyone is brainwashed," he was cited as saying by news website Tempo.

Let's see if the conversation focuses on the actual plight of the LGBT people endangered.

While not all places are as extreme, this is yet one more example of the plight of GLBT people around the world.

The right agrees with these fanatical imbeciles and the left ignores it because they can't figure out a way to blame the west for it.

Screw all adherents to any religion that attacks LGBT rights. Just because some of the adherents were oppressed by the West doesn't give them a pass for what their vile beliefs proclaim.

many of my coworkers are Muslim, at least 2 keep trying to convince me that if I'd only move to Indonesia I could live like a king. These fellas have known me for a few years, I'm pan, poly, pagan, proud. I'd get murdered, and part of me wonders if that's the intent.

The mayor of the Indonesian city of Tangerang has said milk formula and instant noodles could make babies gay.

Arief R Wismansyah made the comments at a city-run pregnancy seminar on Tuesday (24 February).

‘To create Indonesian children that are healthy smart and competitive, the most important thing is, from the beginning, to provide them adequate nutrition, especially breastfeeding,’ he was quoted as saying by Coconuts Jakarta.

Good to promote breastfeeding but nuts to make the gay claim.

I keep hearing about how Indonesia is a shining example of what a modern, majority Muslim country can be.

No thanks.....
