Students removed from Trump rally in Georgia

Source: USA Today

VALDOSTA, Ga. — About 30 black students who were standing silently at the top of the bleachers at Donald Trump’s rally here Monday night were escorted out by Secret Service agents who said the presidential candidate had requested their removal before he began speaking.

The sight of the students, who were visibly upset, being led outside by law enforcement officials created a stir at a university that was a whites-only campus until 1963.

“We didn’t plan to do anything,” said a tearful Tahjila Davis, a 19-year-old mass media major, who was among the Valdosta State University students who was removed. “They said, 'This is Trump’s property; it’s a private event.' But I paid my tuition to be here.”

Trump has been regularly heckled by protesters at his campaign rallies, but tensions have increased after he came under fire on Sunday for not immediately condemning support from a prominent white supremacist.

I didn't think Trump could have made the KKK story worse, but he's done it.

Maybe a bit more. I do find it fascinating watching the corporate media whores speculating on his popularity, they are sooooooooo scared to face the reality that a good percentage of Americans are racist and that is the appeal. They will say all other kinds of reasons, oh they are angry at Washington blah blah blah.

Peace

(they were wearing Alabama A&M shirts, I can't guarantee they were students) were escorted out of his Alabama speech. They were all raising a single closed fist in the air.

I know a media person at the event and they said folks were screaming "Go clean the bathrooms!" as the protesters were escorted out.

Note: They were escorted out by Madison PD, not Secret Service. Of course, the Madison PD has been in the news for body slamming the visiting elderly Indian grandfather who didn't speak English.

or atleast the majority of SCOTUS appear to believe they do

http://www.cnn.com/2010/CRIME/10/12/scotus.free.speech/

That could change in time but that would probably require a major change in the courts makeup which would probably also require a major change in the Senates makeup which I dont see happening any time soon.

It doesn't mean "do what you are told". My read of it is that you do what is called for, given the circumstances, to accomplish a goal.

The goal shouldn't be to do whatever it is you are asked to do. They should use their discretion and refuse some tasks......

If they have a choice, they should choose the option which doesn't infringe on someones rights (as long as it doesn't put their pet at risk).

So it's okay to remove protesters exercising their first amendment rights if you're a Democrat, but wrong if you're a Republican.

And I see it both wrong.

One was based on actions. They took a sign and repurposed it away from the rally's message to another group's message.

The other was based on suspicions. The students did nothing but stand--perhaps to call attention to themselves, but if ignored that may have been the extent of it. Or perhaps not.

The usual denials and attempt at any cost to say "I'm innocent" would probably have followed. In the HRC case, they blamed HRC--if they hadn't been given the sign, they wouldn't have written on it, so it's not really their fault. Yes, really, they were that lame, but that's what one said. And apparently thought it was a good excuse.

In this, although it's a hired venue (and therefore private) the girl paid her tuition and had a right to be there. (Heck, a lot of guys paid their tuition, too, but she wouldn't have taken that as justification for them being in her dorm room or the women's bathroom when she wanted them out).

like you said if i paid tuition should i expect to be able to sit in the shower/locker rooms anytime I wanted. now of course i'll get the "that's not the same thing " retorts. I guess to one group it will a ridiculous analogy but to another it wont.

A Gestapo--uh, Secret Service--agent just choked and bodyslammed a journalist, a Time photographer no less, at a Trump rally in Virginia. When you look at the video, it's like you're looking directly at a Mussolini Brown Shirt. And this is a fucking Secret Service agent! They really are his goon squad now. Yet, these are the same people who cannot keep crazies from jumping the White House fence and getting inside, carrying a knife.

Trump has made it very clear he is inciting the worse of the worse in our country. Every closet bigot is now showing their ugly face thinking it's OK to come out of the shadows. It's our job to make sure he doesn't get to The White House.

They are federal officers. They serve the public. Their job is to protect the candidate, not act as his goon squad, protect him from hecklers, etc. Let him hire his own goons. The taxpayers should not have to pay for his thug squad.
